The Indiana Fever takes the fifth position in our weekly updated power rankings. With an 8-2 record in their last 10 games, Caitlin Clark and co went from being a potential average team to a midfield contender and a legitimate threat to their competitors in the playoffs. They made the postseason for the first time in eight years and a deeper run is expected out of them.
The Seattle Storm miss out on a spot, but the rest of the top four teams retain their spots as the regular season inches to an end with the Indiana Fever joining them.
WNBA Power Rankings: Top 5 teams ft. Indiana Fever (Week 14)
#5 Indiana Fever
The Fever is a young side and impresses with each win. Earlier last week, they rallied back from a 16-point deficit to quash the Atlanta Dream's hopes of booking a No. 8 seed playoff berth. They are brilliant on the offensive end and their 103.8 rating is third-best in the league. Their defense (107.1) is placed eighth, but they have managed to win solely by finding a way to outscore their opponents.
#4 Las Vegas Aces
The Las Vegas Aces finally looked the part of defending champions as they blitzed four wins on the bounce. But an A'ja Wilson injury in the final seconds of the game vs the Connecticut Sun saw them miss the forward's services as they went down to the New York Liberty. But their offense and their finally rebuilding defense still makes them a bonafide threat to teams when the Aces click.
#3 Connecticut Sun
The Connecticut Sun hit a bit of a stutter when they went down to the Storm and Aces. Like Seattle, Connecticut has had instances where winning against the league's top sides is a bit of a concern. Per CBS Sports, they are 4-7 against the top five sides this edition. But they are still one of the best defensive sides in the league with a 94.5 top defensive rating.
#2 Minnesota Lynx
Like the Indiana Fever, there's no stopping the Minnesota Lynx as they have been perfect in their execution, the result of which is a second-place position in the WNBA standings. Like the Sun, they are a well-rounded unit on both offense and defense with top-five offensive and defensive ratings. Expect them to be one of the teams after the New York Liberty to have a clinical finish to the season.
#1 New York Liberty
The New York Liberty are on a three-game winning streak and take the top spot in our weekly rankings. They had a tough scheduling matchup, but have gone 8-2 in that stretch making it clear as to why they deserve the tag of being title favorites. There's every chance the Liberty will clinch the No. 1 seed by the end of the regular season.
