The Seattle Storm made a surge up the WNBA power rankings for Week 4. Their scintillating play on both ends of the floor sees them take fourth place overall in the league and second in the Western Conference with a 7-4 record. They have had a good run at home so far with a 3-1 record while their away performance is a mixed 4-3 that needs some improvement.
The Storm has a chance to build on their good backyard run when they host the LA Sparks at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday.
Ahead of their much-awaited matchup, here are the top five power ranking WNBA teams for Week 4.
WNBA Power Rankings: Top 5 teams ft. Seattle Storm (Week 4)
#5. Las Vegas Aces | 5-4
The Las Vegas Aces won't be hitting the panic button yet, but two losses on the bounce to the Seattle Storm and LA Sparks will be bothering Becky Hammon and Co. Throw in injuries and inconsistency, the Aces are not the same clinical unit they were last season and the year before.
With 5-4 and just over the .500 mark, Las Vegas will have some course correction to make despite A'ja Wilson's stellar run of form.
#4. Seattle Storm | 7-3
The Seattle Storm rocketed to six wins in their last seven games, and while it ended in a damp loss to the Minnesota Lynx, they have shown what their strong defensive unit can do this season. They may have started the season losing three of four games, but have regrouped remarkably to notch up a 90.6 defensive rating — one of the best in the league so far.
The guard duo of Skylar Diggins-Smith and Jewell Lloyd have spearheaded the offense and that sees them pip the Aces in the rankings.
#3. Minnesota Lynx | 8-3
The Minnesota Lynx lead the West with an 8-3 record, with their latest win coming against the Seattle Storm. They have Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride doing most of the heavy lifting while the rest of the unit has contributed on both ends of the floor. McBride has been in impeccable form with 49.2/51.2/91.2 shooting splits that have played a part in Lynx's lethal offense.
#2. New York Liberty | 11-2
It took the New York Liberty to hand the Connecticut Sun their first loss of the season. Liberty's offense sputtered initially but has finally found its groove this season. Their 109.2 offensive rating comes from shooting double-digit 3s and landing them at a healthy clip.
Sabrina Ionescu finds herself in the top five downtown snipers, just below veteran Diana Taurasi. New York's offense has seen them drum up a seven-game winning streak, putting them at No. 2 on the power rankings.
#1. Connecticut Sun | 10-1
The Connecticut Sun may have suffered their first defeat of the season, but have still shown that they are every bit the near-clinical unit they have been so far. However, their offense faltering in certain stretches of games is one of the wrinkles they will need to iron out. Having said that, their defense has been elite this season and that makes up for their odd lapse on the offensive side of the floor.
The league-leaders travel to Chicago next to face Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky (4-6) at Wintrust Arena on Wednesday.
