Valorant Champions 2024 is the final official international event of this season. A total of sixteen teams will be battling for the crown of world champion. Teams will go through two stages, the Group Stage and Playoffs as they try to make their mark in Valorant esports history.
A Sentinel is one of the most essential roles of any team composition. They are the backbone of a match's defensive side and can usually anchor sites by themselves. Many pros have garnered quite a reputation by being menacing Sentinel for the opponents to deal with. Below is a list of five such Sentinel players to look out for at Valorant Champions 2024.

The best Sentinel players to keep an eye on during Valorant Champions 2024
1) Meteor
Kim "Meteor" Tae-O is a South Korean esports player who currently plays for Gen.G. He mainly fulfills the role of Sentinel Agents, Cypher, and Killjoy but also steps in the shoes of the Duelist Agents, Yoru, and Jett on certain maps.
Meteor's rise in VCT 2024 has been an amazing one to witness. With the new roster of Gen.G, he quickly rose to the top as one of the most brilliant and impactful players in Valorant esports. No matter how sure a situation looks in a round, Meteor is always able to ensure multikills and is a safe pair of hands on his team.
With the help of his new teammates, he was able to bring Pacific its first international trophy by winning VCT Masters Shanghai, followed by winning VCT Pacific Stage 2 with ease. In these two events, Meteor was able to secure an ACS (Average Combat Score) of 230.8 and 207.1 respectively.
Currently, he can be considered as the best Sentinel player in the world and will certainly be a tough pro to go against in Valorant Champions 2024.
2) Benjyfishy
British Valorant pro Benjy "Benjyfishy" Fish is currently playing for Team Heretics. Apart from the Sentinel Agents, Cypher and Killjoy, he has also played a fair amount of the Controller Agent, Viper when needed.
Benjyfishy has become among the newest household names in the Valorant esports scene. He rose to the top of VCT alongside a new iteration of the Team Heretics roster. With his sharp aim and clever plays, Benjyfishy has been able to tear his opponents apart on the international stage.
In fact, Team Heretics was even able to secure a second-place finish in VCT Masters Shanghai and a third-place finish in VCT EMEA Stage 2. Benjyfishy secured an ACS of 196 and 184.9 in these events, respectively. Valorant Champions 2024 could be his chance to finally get his hands on an international trophy.
3) Alfajer
Emir "Alfajer" Ali Beder is a Turkish esports player who plays for Fnatic. He is the primary Sentinel player for his team but has also stepped in multiple different roles ranging from the Initiator, and Breach to the Duelist Raze and even some of the newer Agents like ISO and Clove.
Alfajer has been considered among the top Valorant pros ever since 2022. Ever since then he has been able to maintain his reputation and delivered insane performance at the highest level of competition. His incredible mechanical skill and fast reflexes have always enabled him to clutch out some of the most impossible-looking rounds.
While Fnatic has certainly struggled for the major part of the 2024 season, Alfajer has always given top-tier performances. With a new player and some new ideas, Fnatic has once again reclaimed its throne as one of the best teams in the EMEA region by winning Stage 2. Here, Alfajer was able to secure an ACS of 221.7 and has a good chance of earning his third international trophy by winning Valorant Champions 2024.
4) johnqt
The Morrocan esports player, Mohammed Amin "johnqt" Ouarid currently plays for Sentinels. He primarily plays as the Sentinel Agents, Killjoy, and Cypher but is among the few who have also stepped in the shoes of Deadlock on certain maps. Another Agent that he has played for his team is Viper.
johnqt is certainly one of the standout players of the 2024 season. With no experience in the tier-one scene, he was able to win two titles, Americas Kickoff, and VCT Masters Madrid back to back with the Sentinels roster. johnqt is also among the new wave of IGL pros who have shown an extensive amount of firepower and can always be counted on to frag out in any round.
While Sentinels' performance in Stage 2 was hit or miss, johnqt had a decent showing with a 172.4 ACS. Valorant Champions 2024 is his chance to win another international trophy in the same year. This has only been done by Fnatic in 2023.
5) Kai
Lu "Kai" Zhinan is a Chinese esports player who plays for Trace Esports. While he has mainly played as the Sentinel Agents, Cypher and Killjoy, he has also played as the Duelist Agents, Jett, and Yoru when needed.
Kai is among the newest Valorant pros that have taken the Chinese region by storm. With his new team, Trace Esports, he was able to secure an ACS of 220.1 in VCT China Stage 2. In fact, during the lower finals against FunPlus Phoenix, Kai managed to get a total of 104 kills in the Bo5 (Best-of-five) and topped the scoreboard.
While these statistics are very impressive, it will be interesting to see how he performs in Valorant Champions 2024 which will be his international debut.
