Abyss is the latest map added to Valorant. This is the eleventh map introduced in the game and will replace Breeze and Split in the competitive map pool. Abyss is by far one of the biggest regions in Valorant and offers a completely different challenge.

This is one of the most unique maps in Valorant as it adds somewhat of an extra dimension to the game. Abyss does not have any invisible walls at its edges, meaning players can fall off the map and die. What this also means is there's a lot more room for experimentation. While many Agents have already looked viable for this, some are struggling. Below is a list of five such Valorant Agents that players should avoid using on Abyss.

Note: This list is subjective and solely reflects the writer's opinions.

The least impactful Valorant Agents on Abyss

1) Phoenix

Phoenix is among the many Duelists in Valorant and has existed since the beta stage. His abilities allow him to become a mix between an Initiator and a Duelist where he can set his teammates for easier duels through his Curveballs. Phoenix is also a part of the few Agents that can heal themselves.

Due to Abyss's large size, Phoenix is instantly a liability on it. He is the slowest Duelist alongside Iso. However, whereas Iso's Contingency is quite useful for creating space, Phoenix doesn't offer anything as effective. This is one of the biggest issues why the latter is not only a tough pick on Abyss but also on other maps.

2) Brimstone

Brimstone comes under the Controller category and has been a part of Valorant since the beta stage. His abilities are useful in blocking lines of sight and for quick executions. Brimstone's smokes have the least visibility on the inside and also last the longest.

While Brimstone has definitely been a mainstay for certain maps like Bind, Abyss is where he ends up feeling like a liability. Because of his limited smoke deployment range, he is unable to use them to their fullest. He is required to constantly rotate back and forth from sites to use smoke effectively. This can be easily abused by opponents which is why he is not as useful on Abyss.

3) Clove

Clove is the latest Agent that was released in Valorant and comes under the Controller category. Their abilities allow them to be one of the most aggressive Agents and are among the very few that can be resurrected.

The issue with Clove on Abyss is essentially the same as Brimstone. Their smoke's limited deployment range keeps them from being impactful on the map. However, the advantage here is that Clove's smoke is refilled after some time, and can deploy smoke after their death. However, the downside is that these smokes last for a very short amount of time.

4) Skye

Skye was among the earliest Initiators in Valorant after its full launch. With her abilities, she can blind enemies as well as get information about their locations. Skye is one of the only two Agents in the game who can heal teammates. However, she cannot heal herself.

After the recent nerfs to Skye, her pick rate has dipped quite a bit. Unfortunately, her position doesn't improve on Abyss either. While her signature ability, Guiding Light can find some success on Abyss, it can't clear many spots. This ability can also be used only twice since it doesn't get refilled anymore. This pales in comparison to other Initiator Agents as their signature ability comes back over time.

5) Sage

Sage is a Sentinel Agent that has been a part of Valorant since its beta stage. Her abilities help her in slowing down quick executes into sites. Apart from Skye, she is the only Agent in the game who can heal teammates.

The problem with Sage on Abyss is similar to every other map. Her abilities just aren't as impactful when compared to other Sentinel Agents. The best ability that Sage can use is her Barrier Orb to block obvious entry points but even that can be cleared very quickly. However, she can place herself in some unusual off-angle positions by placing the Barrier Orb in unorthodox places.
