With its console release announced, fans might wonder if there is crossplay in Valorant. To answer it simply, no, Valorant does not support crossplay between PC and console players, and there are many reasons behind that. While the idea of playing with friends across all platforms sounds exciting, it would unfortunately not adhere to the game's competitive fair-play factor.

In this article, we will explain why there is no crossplay in Valorant among all devices. We will also discuss cross-progression and any other information relevant to this topic.

No, Valorant does not support crossplay between PC and console players. Console players on Xbox series X/S and PlayStation 5 can easily team up with other console players. In contrast, PC players will only be able to queue with those who are also playing on a PC.

Why is there no crossplay in Valorant between PC and console players?

The decision not to include crossplay in Valorant has been taken while keeping the fair-play factor and competitive integrity of the game in mind. In their press release, the developers mentioned:

"In order to maintain VALORANT’s renowned standard for competitive integrity, cross-play will not be available between PC and console player matches."

Playing on PC and consoles offers natural contrasts between PC and console players. Using a keyboard and mouse versus a controller can be one-sided for PC users, even if the consoles have an aim-assist feature.

As such, crossplay in Valorant would give an unfair advantage to one side, compromising the game's integrity and fair play.

On the other hand, cross-progression will be allowed in Valorant. The developers addressed this issue in the press release where they mentioned:

"However, VALORANT players on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 will have a connected, shared inventory and gameplay progression tied to their VALORANT account."

Your entire inventory and other in-game items, including Agents and weapon skins in Valorant, are linked to the Riot account. As such, playing on any platform gives you access to all your owned items.

Riot Games has confirmed that all the platforms will receive patch updates simultaneously, including patch balances, new Agents, maps, premium cosmetic content, and any additional live-service features.

A release date for the console launch of Valorant has not yet been communicated. However, limited beta testing for Valorant in consoles starts next week.
