EDward Gaming has emerged as the first team to qualify for VCT Champions 2024 to be held in Seoul, South Korea. They will represent the Chinese region alongside three other teams. Champions 2024 will be the organization's seventh international appearance and their third of the season, having achieved top-eight finishes at the Masters events in Madrid and Shanghai.
EDward Gaming currently has the highest number of VCT Championship Points among the Chinese teams. Additionally, Trace Esports' victory over FunPlus Phoenix in Week 2 of VCT China Stage 2 means that it will be impossible for a total of four teams to collect more points than EDG individually. Therefore, the most well-known Chinese squad will get a spot at Valorant Champions 2024. The exact seeding is yet to be determined.
Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang and EDward Gaming have confirmed their spot at Valorant Champions 2024 in Seoul
Having won the VCT China Kickoff tournament, one match at Masters Madrid, and eight out of ten matches in Stage 1 as well as the tournament itself, EDward Gaming has secured enough VCT Championship Points to confirm their participation at Champions 2024.
Even if EDG does not succeed in getting a top-three finish in the ongoing VCT China Stage 2, no team can overtake them in terms of points collected. Their closest competitor in China is FunPlus Phoenix, who must at least make it to the Lower Finals to qualify for Champions Seoul.
EDward Gaming has four more matches to play in VCT China:
- vs. Wolves Esports on June 22, 2024, at 4 am PT.
- vs. Dragon Ranger Gaming on June 27, 2024, at 4 am PT.
- vs. Nova Esports on June 30, 2024, at 4 am PT.
- vs. Bilibili Gaming on July 6, 2024, at 4 am PT.
EDG's performance in these games and subsequently in the playoffs (if they make it) will determine the squad's seeding at Valorant Champions 2024.
