Global Esports has been knocked out of the VCT 2022 Stage 1 APAC Challengers after encountering consecutive defeats in the tournament's Play-ins stage.
After losing to Hong Kong side Griffin E-Sports in their opening match of the Play-ins, Global Esports were sent to the lower bracket of Group B, where they were pitted against Fancy United Esports from Vietnam.
Global Esports were defeated on straight maps in both encounters despite their efforts, leading to their immediate defeat. Nevertheless, Global Esports returns home after representing South Asia at Valorant's finest stage.
Global Esports eliminated from VCT Stage 1 APAC Challengers
Global Esports were eliminated from the Play-ins of the tournament after a close encounter against Fancy United Esports. With matchups on Icebox (13-11) and Ascent (13-10) concluding at a close margin, Global Esports were just one step away from retaining their position in the tournament.
Nevertheless, the team did their part in representing India and South Asia, showcasing the ability of the players, who otherwise shy away from mainstream Valorant.
Global Esports and Velocity Gaming were the two teams from the South Asian region to qualify for the Stage 1 APAC Challengers.
Valorant enthusiasts in India and South Asia missed out on VCT 2021 since the only invite the region received came with the Last Chance Qualifiers towards the end of the season. However, Riot's plans for 2022 promised the region much more for VCT 2022.
South Asia received two slots for the Stage 1 APAC Challengers, which were decided through the Valorant Conquerors Championship 2022. A month of engrossing matchups resulted in Velocity Gaming being crowned champions of VCC 2022, with the finalists Global Esports joining in on the APAC Challengers qualification.
After winning the tournament, Velocity Gaming were given a bye-advantage, sending them directly to the tournament's Group Stage. Global Sports, on the other hand, were put through the Play-ins before commencing the Group Stage.
Global Esports took their challenges head-on. The entire team traveled to Singapore on short notice to provide themselves with the technical advantage to match up with teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and Oceania.
Despite having to exit the tournament in its early stages, Global Esports has succeeded in representing India and South Asia on one of the biggest stages in Valorant.
Confident in returning to the next edition of the tournament, Global Esports await the results of fellow Indian team Velocity Gaming as they prepare to engage with the best teams in the Asia-Pacific in the Group Stage of VCT 2022 Stage 1 APAC Challengers.
