The VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 has officially kicked off, with the event already showcasing some intense matches. Day 1 of the tournament had three matches lined up, with an intense series between NA's FLYQuest RED and Pacific's Xipto Esports being the last one.

The Bo3 (Best-of-three) series went the distance as both teams started off by winning their own map picks with ease. It was on the final map, Split, where things got extremely close. This saw the event's first overtime. Eventually, it was Xipto Esports that came out and top, grabbing the series win with a 2-1 scoreline.

After the match, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav conversed with FLYQuest RED's coach, Jovi. The latter had this to say about the matchup:

"It was very obvious how they were playing"

FLYQuest RED's coach, Jovi, talks about the discussion done during a pivotal timeout against Xipto Esports in VCT Game Changers Championship 2024

FLYQuest RED was one of the stronger teams coming into this event. The team had a phenomenal showing in the regional events, with only a few defeats that came at the hands of their rivals, Shopify Rebellion.

In their first match of the VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 against Xipto Esports, FLYQuest RED gave it their all. Things became super close on Split as there was a lot of back and forth between both teams when it came to the rounds.

At the 10-9 scoreline, FLYQuest Red's coach, Jovi, decided to call a timeout to try to curb the issues within his team. This ultimately led to the overtime where both squads pushed each other to the absolute limit. During the post-match conference, Sportskeeda Esports approached Jovi to ask him about the exact discussion done during that particular timeout. Here's what the coach had to say:

"It was very obvious how they were playing. And you know just had a few reads. We were able to bait out some things and it was exactly how we wanted to play. But it was more of making sure that we tightened up the way we were playing, more than anything. Because we were playing the rounds out great. We were just dropping the ball on some minor key things that ultimately favored them. So it was just making sure that we were back on focus on what we should be doing and how we should be playing and just reminding them of few key things."

Due to this defeat, FLYQuest RED will make its way to the lower brackets of the event. Their next match will be do-or-die as they face off against Pacific's ZETA DIVISION.
