T1 Autumn shares details about their unique map pick against Team Secret in VCT 2023: Pacific League
After Week 7, Day 2 of VCT 2023: Pacific League matches concluded, Sportskeeda Esports got the opportunity to ask a series of questions to Autumn. Yoon "Autumn" Eu-teum is the coach for the South Korean Valorant team T1. In the interview, the coach was asked about the rationale behind the Bind map pick and the viability of Gekko on the map. To this, Autumn answered the
"Because that's our best map [laughs]. For two weeks, we practiced that map, and honestly, our win rate on that map in the scrims was really high, probably ninety percent. So that's why."
As for Gekko, he had to say the following:
"Because of his utility set, I think Gekko is really good on the map. That philosophy I have. So I think Gekko is a really good pick on the map."
According to the coach, Bind is their best map ever since it replaced Icebox. They practiced on the map for two weeks, and their win rate on Bind was higher than the other maps, which he reported to be around ninety percent. Similarly, for the Harbor and Gekko composition on Bind, the coach didn't delve into the details and simply mentioned that Gekko's utility set makes him a great pick on the map.
Bind was removed from Valorant along with Breeze back in January 2023. But the map returned with Patch 6.08 (April 25, 2023), and Icebox was rotated out of the active Competitive map pool. As a result, teams didn't have much time to get accustomed to the changes on the map. However, T1 picked the map in their match against Team Secret and won with a scoreline of 13-8. The team played an Agent composition with Raze, Viper, Skye, Habor, and finally, Gekko.
While T1 is usually more conservative with their approach, their last match against Team Secret showed a new side of the team.
T1 will face Japan's ZETA DIVISION next in VCT 2023: Pacific League. The upcoming match will take place on May 12, 2023.
