VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 is the final official LAN event of the year. The tournament features ten GC teams from all over the world competing for the title of world champion. Day 1 of the 2024 Game Changers started with a match between Pacific's ZETA Division and LATAM's KRÜ BLAZE. The Bo3 (Best-of-three) series was expected to be one-sided but showed quite the tussle between both teams. Ultimately, it was KRÜ BLAZE who could close out both maps, ending the series with a 2-0 win.
In the post-match press conference, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav had the opportunity to talk to ZETA DIVISION's suzu, during which she said:
"They were a little bit better than us."
ZETA DIVISION's suzu talks about their shortcomings against KRÜ BLAZE in VCT Game Changers Championship 2024
ZETA DIVISION came into the event as the Pacific region's #2 seed. The team showed phenomenal performances in the regional (Japanese) and Pacific LAN events. However, they were denied the first seed by XIPTO Esports.
In their first match of VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 against KRÜ BLAZE, the team did much better than most viewers expected. Despite the clash in playstyles, ZETA DIVISION put a decent number of rounds on the board. In fact, the team had a very strong start on the second map, Ascent, but KRÜ BLAZE made a comeback in the second half.
During the post-match press conference, Sportskeeda Esports approached ZETA DIVISION's suzu to ask her what allowed KRÜ to get the comeback on Ascent despite having a strong start. Here's what she said:
"So I think it's just that they were a little bit better than us. Although, sometimes we had good positions while we were on site. But a lot of times their positioning to come from both short and long (overpowered us). They were adapting better to the situations."
As a result of this defeat, ZETA DIVISION has been pushed to the lower bracket of VCT Game Changers Championship 2024. Their next match will be against NA's FLYQuest Red, with elimination on the line.
