Valorant Champions 2024 is the ultimate VCT event of the season. The sixteen qualified teams are currently giving their best in the Group Stage to secure one of the eight playoff spots. So far, most matches have delivered several highly entertaining moments. Day 5 started with a match between EMEA's #3 seed Team Heretics and the Pacific's #1 seed, Gen.G. This Bo3 (Best-of-three) series was close, as both teams won on their opponent's map picks. However, it was Team Heretics that finally closed the series with a 2-1 win.
In the post-match conference, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav got the chance to talk to Team Heretics' MiniBoo, during which the player said:
"This was probably the hardest game I've ever played"
Team Heretics' MiniBoo talks about facing off against Gen.G in Valorant Champions 2024
Team Heretics has surprised many with their performance in this 2024 season. While the squad is yet to win a trophy, they did make it to at least the top three at every event this season. Owing to their past performances and current form, Team Heretics is expected to make a very deep run at this event.
In Heretics' recent match against Gen.G, all three maps ended up being close, recording score lines of 11-13, 13-11, and 13-10 in the EMEA side's favor. A teaser was shown before the match began, where Team Heretics player MiniBoo stated that he wanted to face off against Gen.G since they were the best in the world. While Heretics has played against Gen.G before, during Masters Shanghai, MiniBoo was absent from the event due to personal reasons.
Sportskeeda asked MiniBoo about his experience after finally facing off against Gen.G and if they lived up to his expectations. Here's what he said:
"This was probably the hardest game I've ever played in my career. After the game, my head was hurting, you know. They played really good and I think we played also really good. But this time we were better. Yeah they lived up to my expectations. It was a really fun game to play and I hope it was a fun game to watch. So yeah it was good."
With this win, Team Heretics has become the first team to secure their spot in the Playoffs stage of Valorant Champions 2024. Meanwhile, Gen.G will make their way to the lower bracket of the Group Stage.
