VCT Game Changers Championship 2024 is finally nearing its crucial stage. With two upper-bracket matches scheduled, Day 5 started off with a series between Brazil's MIBR and EMEA's G2 Gozen. The Bo3 (best-of-three) was an intense one, as both teams managed to win on their chosen maps with the same amount of rounds. However, on the decider map, Split, G2 Gozen completely destroyed their opponents and closed it 13-4, winning the series with a 2-1 scoreline.

After the match, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav got the opportunity to talk to MIBR's sayuri, during which she said:

"We just didn't enter the server"

MIBR's sayuri talks about the Deadlock pick by G2 Gozen and losing the series in the VCT Game Changers Championship 2024

MIBR came into the event as the number one seed from Brazil. By defeating the GCC 2023 runner-up (Team Liquid) in their own region, MIBR had raised many people's expectations in their first-ever international appearance. The team surpassed these expectations by dominating in its first match against EMEA's GIANTX.

In its second match against G2 Gozen, MIBR had a great start, as they comfortably won on Bind. However, the second map is where they started to struggle a bit. G2 Gozen showed a new composition on Split with the Sentinel Agent, Deadlock, and was able to win the map quite easily.

Sportskeeda Esports approached MIBR's sayuri to ask her if the Deadlock pick from G2 Gozen threw MIBR off or if other reasons affected their gameplay on Split. She answered:

"We weren't expecting Deadlock. But I don't think it was the reason we lost. Like it wasn't their composition. It was more about us. I think we couldn't show our gameplay really. We just didn't play. We just didn't enter the server honestly. Yeah I don't think we were like whoa, Deadlock. I think we just didn't play the game."

As a result of this defeat, MIBR will be making its way to the lower brackets of the event. Their next opponent will be ZETA DIVISION from the Pacific region.
