A complete Yoru guide for Valorant's Abyss will help players achieve success on this new map. Yoru, the Japanese Duelist, was introduced in January 2021, and after several buffs and a major overhauling rework, he became a character worthy of being played at high-stakes matches. His kit is mainly designed around bamboozling opponents and outplaying them using deceit and misdirection.

With Abyss being eligible for the competitive map pool in Valorant's Episode 9 Act 1, Yoru mains can use this guide on their journey to climb the ranked ladder.

How to play Yoru on Abyss in Valorant

At the outset, it must be mentioned that Yoru is not the best pick for competitive play on Valorant's newest map. The utility of the Agent lies primarily in his ability to have cross-map presence using his signature ability Gatecrash (E).

However, owing to Abyss' convoluted structure, and several nooks and crannies on the map, the Gatecrash rift tether gets stuck in awkward angles making it difficult for the object to travel long distances. It follows that it is quite difficult to create Gatecrash lineups for Abyss.

Yoru hit and dip strategy for Abyss

You can try out some interesting mechanics with Yoru on Abyss. The most interesting of these has to do with the map being boundary-less. You can stand on any of the ledges while holding an off-angle. As soon as you are done taking the fight, you can fall off the edge of the map.

While this would mean certain death for any other Agent in the game, Yoru can set up a Gatecrash tether in a safe place at any point on the map, and triggering the ability will bring you back to safety. This can be better than directly Gatecrashing away for the following reasons:

Falling back makes sure you escape your enemies' crosshairs faster, thanks to the velocity of the fall. This will be faster than the Gatecrash animation's duration, which can give you a split-second advantage.
You already have a slight advantage being on higher ground. This hit-and-dip strategy will push your opponents to have to make several micro-adjustments in a short window.
