Valorant will receive a few new changes to the Premier mode as Riot Games gears up to integrate the in-game competitive scene with Challengers 2024. It is a series of different updates that will bring the esports scene closer to home and aid players in showcasing their talents from a regional level. Despite the delay, it appears the publisher is ready to integrate and introduce an in-game route to professional tournaments.
The developers introduced Premier mode to Valorant in an attempt to help players grow in a high-stakes environment. However, the incentives of winning such matches lacked a certain shine that hindered the hype surrounding the new competitive mode. Players would only receive titles and accrue points with wins without any proper seeding in regional events.
On that note, this article highlights all upcoming changes for Valorant’s Premier mode.
Valorant Premier mode to receive significant changes before Challengers integration
Here is a list of all the changes that are arriving in the Premier mode in Valorant.
- Premier Practice: Players and teams can choose to practice on some specific non-match days to warm up before the official matches. The Premier ruleset will be followed even for practice matches, but any win or loss will not affect the team’s score.
- Enrollment: Teams can now be created for a longer period of time as the enrollment period will be hosted for one and a half days. All teams created during or before this time can participate in the competitive ladder.
- Timeout: Both competing teams will receive one timeout for attacking and defending, alongside an additional timeout for the Overtime phase.
- Playoff Seeding: Teams that worked hard and secured more wins than others and got more points will be rewarded with more favorable seeding in the Playoff tournament.
- Playoff Queue: The seeding process will take some time, so teams need to start and wait in queue for at least 15 minutes to ensure that a balanced lobby is created without any skill level disparity.
- Premier Crests: These new emblems will showcase the team’s performance and evolve as the Premier stage progresses. It can be considered a team rank and will be calculated based on various metrics like accumulated points, wins, and losses.
It is important to note that these changes will only be available to the playerbase after the Episode 7 Act 3 update goes live. The current Premier mode will continue with the existing ruleset until the patch is aired by Riot Games.
When will Episode 7 Act 3 update be released for Valorant?
Valorant is slated to receive the Episode 7 Act 3 update on October 31, 2023, and introduce a new Duelist called ISO to the game’s roster. The developers will also include a new battle pass with the update to provide the community with cosmetics that can be collected by grinding the game.
