Valorant's Premier system is the in-game tournament mode that allows players to compete against each other. A total of five to seven players are needed to form a full team. All of these are divided into multiple divisions, which are decided according to the team’s average ranks.
The next phase of Premiere is about to implement plenty of changes into this mode. The article below will do a deep dive and explain as to what these changes are.
All the new updates being added to Valorant's Premier
The Premier system was always promised to be a pipeline for casual players to directly be able to have a chance at competing in professional matches. Now, after more than six months of its release, the mode will finally allow them to do just that.
After the recent Valorant Premier changes implemented in Episode 8 Act 2, the new update will allow teams to promote to the higher divisions. The winners of the Playoffs bracket will now see themselves be promoted to at least one division at the beginning of the next stage. Only the top two teams from each regional zone will have the opportunity to qualify and play in a Challengers League.
To simplify this process, a new Invite Division will be incorporated in the Premier system. It will be placed above the current highest division, Contender. To make their way into Invite, rosters will need to reach the Top 32 in their zone's Contender division at the end of each stage. These will receive a promotion into the Invite Division in Episode 8 Act 3 for the first time.
Contender eligibility will also be given to players who are ranked Immortal 3 or higher, or have competed in the Playoffs of Invite or Contender Division. They can also gain this eligibility if they have been in Elite 5 Division or higher and gotten themselves the crests, Playoff Team, Finalists, or lastly, Winner.
From Valorant's Episode 9 Act 1, losses will grant teams a total of zero points. This is different from the previous Premiere rules as teams would receive 25 points for each loss, which put importance on participation in the mode. However, this new change makes things very competitive as every win counts and teams will battle even harder to get their victory
Premier teams will also be facing opponents that have a similar record, and the recently implemented feature, Rematch Protection, will ensure that they don't have to face the same opponents repeatedly. The total Playoffs qualification threshold for each Division is 600 Premiere Score. With losses not granting any points in the future, gaining the required amount has become even more difficult.
