The Valorant Sunset Agent tier list is a must-know for players looking to improve their Agent picks. Set in Los Angeles, Sunset has two bomb sites, a three-lane design with a wide open mid. It is currently in the competitive map pool and is one of those few maps where a variety of Agents can be impactful.

This article takes a close look at the current meta and provides a tier list for Sunset, ranking every Agent from best to worst.

Editor's Notes: With Patch 9.11, Neon has fallen a tier from S-tier to A-tier. On the other hand, Vyse has climbed a tier to B-tier. Other Agents have retained their spots. However, that can change when looking at the upcoming patches.

S-tier: Best Agent to play on Sunset

Omen in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)

Omen’s one-way smokes are unmatched on Sunset. On top of that, there are a few elevated angles that Omen can advantage of with his Shrouded Step. These make him an S-tier Controller on the Valorant Sunset Agent tier list. Raze has always been an S-tier Duelist on the Valorant Sunset Agent tier list. His Paint Shells and Showstopper offer immense value because of the narrow lanes of A Main and B Main.

Cypher, unlike Killjoy, is not limited by range, which makes him the Sentinel of choice on Sunset. He can hold down either of the bomb sites, all the while keeping a check on the wide-open mid-section of the map. His Trapwires and Spycam allow him to do so easily, making him an S-tier Sentinel.

Breach was previously underrated on Sunset in Valorant. However, with the rise of Neon, players have started seeing his true potential, and he quickly became an S-tier Initiator. His Fault Lines and Flashpoints are perfect for Neon to take advantage of with her fast pace. Gekko gets a lot of value out of his Dizzy on Sunset. He can maximize the value of the re-usable nature of his flash, with easy lineups. Moreover, the narrow lanes and tight corners on the bomb sites are perfect for his Thrash. Apart from the value provided by Sova's Recon Bolt and Owl Drone, his Shock Bolts are very useful in breaking Cypher Trapwires, which are a menace on Sunset.

A-tier: Worthy picks for experienced players

KAY/O in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)
KAY/O in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)

KAY/O has been quite an effective Agent among the Initiators in Valorant. This applies to the map, Sunset as well. His FLASH/drives can be very effective in getting first bloods and ZERO/point can be used to detect enemy presence in tricky spots like A Elbow or B Market. KAY/O's FRAG/MENT can also find good value in delaying executes into the site or come in handy during post-plant situations. Fade can easily match Sova’s value on Sunset. However, it is difficult to master Fade, and the raw value of Sova’s ultimate ranks him higher.

With the proper team composition, Jett has the potential to dominate. Furthermore, players who are skilled in using Operator and Marshal should main Jett in Lotus matches. Neon was significantly nerfed in Patch 9.11, making her fall a spot in the tier list. But still, she is a worthy Duelist for Sunset and can be lethal in the right hands.

Killjoy’s limiting factor on Sunset is the fact that she has to stay within range of her Turret and Alarmbot. However, she is still a great site anchor. Astra is seemingly making her way back to the meta. For Sunset, Astra can be quite useful as she can easily place her stars from any part of the map. This also allows her to lurk on the attacking half which in turn allows for the team composition to get a little experimental.

B-tier: Better than C-tier on Sunset

Brimstone in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)
Brimstone in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)

Brimstone should not be the first choice for a Controller on Sunset. While his abilities will do the job, the biggest problem is his range. Unlike Omen or Astra, Brimstone has a very limited range. This restricts him from playing in the middle portion of the map to use his smokes effectively for his teammates. Like Brimstone, Clove also suffers from a similar issue on Sunset. Their range for smokes is almost the same as Brimstone's which restricts them in the middle area of the map for most of the round. However, Clove's smokes do regenerate and thus can be used a little freely. Their abilities also allow them to be quite aggressive and take duels which can at times find a good amount of value.

The Arc Rose is Vyse's most impactful ability. She can easily set it up at the beginning of the round to get information on A Main or B Main. Unfortunately, all these abilities can be easily overcome and aren't nearly as effective when compared to Cypher or Killjoy on Sunset. Sage is for the creative players out there. She has some unique wall combos with Omen’s Shrouded Step and Raze’s Blast Packs, but they can potentially work only once per map.

As a Duelist, Iso offers very little space-making abilities and his impact fully relies on aim duels. Unfortunately, Sunset is just another map where he isn't as impactful. The best way for him to get impact is to combine his Undercut with other Agent's abilities to get easy kills or use his ultimate, Kill Contract to fish out the anchoring Sentinel on the site. While Reyna can be very satisfying to play with, it cannot be denied that she is a difficult Agent to get value out of. Just like Iso, Reyna can only find impact by getting kills. Her Leer which is the only ability that somewhat helps the team can also be easily dealt with. Skye’s kit, on paper, works well on Sunset, but at the moment, KAY/O is a much safer and more reliable option.

C-tier: You should avoid these on Sunset

Viper in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)
Viper in Valorant (Image via Riot Games)

Viper was once meta on Sunset but her nerfs have dropped her pick rate a lot. Her Toxic Screen can still provide value but gets outshined by Harbor. While a powerful Agent on her own, Viper does not gel well in Lotus team compositions. Harbor is a bit difficult to get value out of Sunset. His High Tide can be quite effective in blocking line of sight. For example, on the B-Site, he can completely block off players who are hiding in both B Market and B Boba. He can then use his Cascade to slow down flood retakes as well.

Chamber can have some interesting off-angles on Sunset because of his Rendezvous, but as a Sentinel, he simply does not provide enough value. Deadlock, without some rework, is very difficult to rely on. The most important part of her kit, as a Sentinel, the Sonic Sensors, provides zero value on a slow-paced map like Sunset.

Phoenix has not had the best time when it comes to pick rates in Valorant. He has fallen far behind his other Duelist comrades and the same issues hold him back on Sunset. He doesn't offer speed or good utility to break the anchoring Sentinel's utility. Meanwhile, his Curveballs can be easily dodged. Yoru is a great pick for people who can harness his abilities to the max. However, for beginners and intermediate players, Yoru should be a no-go for Sunset.
