Wardell's tips to use Valorant’s Operator
1. Easy Shots
By ‘Easy Shots’, Wardell is referring to the fact that newer Operator users generally tend to shoot as soon as they spot someone. Because of this, they miss most of their shots, as they aren’t aware if the opponent is going to ‘swing’, ‘wide swing’ or ‘jiggle peek’.
Trigger discipline plays a huge role here, and Wardell suggests to wait before squeezing the trigger. However, waiting too long can cause its own problems, and Wardell talks about finding a middle ground between waiting too long and instantly shooting.
2. Flicking vs Waiting
Flicking might have its own merits but it’s not all that easy to pull off as it requires an incredible amount of training and muscle memory.
Hence, for newer players, Wardell recommends Waiting as it’s much easier to kill when the enemy walks into the Operator’s crosshair. Although getting frags like this will require a good deal of patience from your part, it will get the job done without you having to risk losing the Operator.
3. Econing
The third section of Wardell’s Operator guide talks about how to keep a good economy to buy a gun.
He finds investing in weapons like the Bucky, Sheriff and Judge to be a waste of credits when one is going for the sniper position on the team.
The Operator is very expensive, and not having a god econ strategy will ultimately mess up your game and cost your team rounds.
4. Angles and Positioning
With the Operator, positioning and repositioning is everything. With the correct angling, not only will they be able to cover easier after missing a shot but they would even get a big advantage over the opponents.
Wardell also talks about non-prefirable angles when using the operator, and suggests that players should abuse these little pockets on the map, as it drastically reduces the risk of getting pre-fired on by the opponents and improves one’s chances of survival.
