The Indian U-21 volleyball team’s winning streak came to an end as they lost to Russia in the quarterfinals of the FIVB U-21 Volleyball World Championship at Ankara, Turkey, with a score of 25-21, 25-15, 25-16.
Russia recovered from a slow start in the first set. India played well in the beginning as Russia made too many errors. But later Russia came back strongly to pocket the first set 25-21.
The second set was a bit different but negatively so for India, as Russia dominated play and maintained a good lead for the whole set, winning it 25-15.
The Indian team was under intense pressure as they had to win the third set to stay in the game. But they faltered again, losing the final set 16-25.
A lot was expected of the Indian team after they beat Japan, but they couldn’t live up to the expectations.
For Russia, Poletaev Victor top scored with 15 points, while D’Costa Anup top scored for India with 9 points.
