The second day of the Volleyball event at the 13th South Asian Games saw the Indian (men's and women's) and Pakistan (men's) teams open their accounts with one-sided victories from the matches that took place at the Dasharath Rangashala covered hall.
However, since the Pakistan women's team couldn't make it to the venue for their scheduled match on the inaugural day, Maldives were awarded three points to their name on the basis of a walkover.
In the men's Group B encounter, Pakistan prevailed over the Maldives with a straight-sets victory, registering a 25-16, 25-23, 25-15 win to seal the match 3-0. The Maldives appeared to make a comeback in the second set, only to see their effort thwarted by a firm spike from the Aimal Khan-led Pakistan side.
Men's action continued in Group A as former gold-medalists India took on Bangladesh in the next encounter. India went on to win the three-set match by a 25-18, 25-14, 25-1 margin and asserted early dominance in the competition.
The Indian eves also took on Bangladesh in a women's clash from Group A which India sealed by sheer dominance, winning all three sets to close out a 26-24, 25-12, 25-16 in the end.
On the back of the Bangladesh women's team having lost to Nepal, the former had to face an early exit from the competition.
