Becky Hammon is one of the best undrafted players in the history of the WNBA. She went undrafted in the 1999 WNBA Draft but made the New York Liberty roster. In eight seasons with the Liberty, she made three All-Star appearances and established herself as a starter in the last three-years after backing Teresa Weatherspoon in the point guard position. She made 227 appearances and averaged 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for the Liberty.
At the age of 30, Hammon was traded to the San Antonio Stars in 2007. One of the best late bloomers in the WNBA, Hammon had a spectacular first season with the Stars averaging 18.8 points and 5.0 assists per game. In her second season with the Stars, Hammon led them to their first WNBA Finals appearances and averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She made three All-Star appearances, several All-WNBA teams and also finished as a runner-up in the 2007 MVP race. In eight seasons with the San Antonio Stars, Hammon made 223 appearances and 222 of them came as a starter. She averaged 15.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game for the Stars.

Becky Hammon attended Colorado State and joined the Colorado State Rams Women's basketball team, led by head coach Greg Williams in 1995. The Colorado State Rams made Six NCAA Tournament appearances in their history and three of them (1996, 98 and 99) came in Becky Hammon’s reign.
In her college career, Hammon played in the Women's Western Athletic Conference and won three regular season championships (1996, 98 and 99) and a conference tournament in her freshman year (1996).
One of the most dominating players of the WAC conference, Hammon won the WAC Rookie of the Year (1996), three consecutive WAC Player of the Year (1997, 1998 and 1999) and the 1996 WAC Tournament MVP. She also made four consecutive All-WAC first team and three All-Wac tournament teams.
She ended her career as the leading scorer of the WAC conference, scoring 2740 points, eighth in assists (508), second in three-pointers made (365), first in field goals made (918) and second in steals (315) in the history of WAC conference. She also holds the record for two of the best scoring seasons in the WAC conference, scoring 824 points in 1999 and 704 in 1998.
In the history of Colorado State, Hammon still holds the record of most three-pointers made in a single season (114) which she made in the 1998-99 season. She also holds the record for most steals made in a single season, 98 in 1997-98 and 98 in 1998-99. Three of the best scoring seasons in the history of Colorado State have been under her name, 23.5 points per game in 1998, 22.9 in 1999 and 22.1 in 1997.
