WWE is having problems a plenty with respect to the number of babyfaces on both Raw and Smackdown. While Raw has several. Top faces like CM Punk, John Cena and Zack Ryder, Smackdown boasts of stars like Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Big Show and Sheamus as faces. With the odds stacked in favor of the faces, WWE is finding it difficult to build adept storylines for these guys. This is the prime reason why guys like Sheamus and John Cena aren’t being given a proper storyline feud over the past few weeks. Sheamus has just been bulldozing mid-carders and John Cena was left out of the TLC card. Fortunately Kane came back and so John Cena has got someone to feud with. But Sheamus still needs a heel to feud. Christian’s injury has deprived the WWE of another heel in Smackdown. So, WWE is desperately in need of heels currently. Here are 3 potential WWE superstars who could turn heel in early 2012.
Big Show has the highest probability to turn heel right now. He was robbed of his World Heavyweight Championship by Daniel Bryan and is being ridiculed for his ultra short title reign of 45 seconds. Moreover, Big Show has the size and history in his favor if he turns heel. He has already portrayed as a heel character in his long career and can surely pull it off doing it again. He has become too soft as a face and hence becoming a heel will suit his character well. Since he is in the fag end of his career, WWE might give him a run with the title as a heel similar to what they did with Mark Henry. He might probably turn against Daniel Bryan and go into Wrestlemania 28 as a heel. With rumors strife that basketball star Shaquille O’Neal will be involved in a match at Wrestlemania, who’d be a better opponent to him than Big Show?
If the Big Show doesn’t turn heel, Daniel Bryan will. But Bryan heel turn might take some time. He has just won the World Championship and hence it might not happen anytime soon. The only chance of turning him heel would be to let him have a short run as champ and then blame it on the crowd for his loss like Christian did in 2011. But WWE wouldn’t want to get repetitive. They might come up with something new. Bryan has portrayed as a heel for just one day during which he was a part of the Nexus Invasion storyline. The funny part is that he was suspended for his actions on that night. He has been portrayed as a face ever since he returned at Summerslam 2010. If he turns heel then his potential opponent would be the man who snatches the title from his grasp.
This one has been waiting to happen for several months but WWE wouldn’t just let it happen. With the road to Wrestlemania set to kick off, John Cena is still a face in the WWE. It is still unsure whether Cena will face the rock at WM28 as a face or a heel. The ideal choice would be to let Cena be the heel and Rock as the face. But WWE is reluctant to turn Cena heel. They’ve has several golden opportunities in the past to do that but have fumbled in each and every one of them. His current feud with Kane might be the last chance to turn Cena heel before Wrestlemania. For that to happen, Cena must be completely overhauled by Kane and then Cena must start voicing his concern over being picked upon by Kane. WWE’s reluctance in turning Cena heel are understandable but letting him stay this way does not seem to the right option. John Cena is turning heel on or before Wrestlemania and his first opponent as a heel will be The Rock.
