India’s Sushil Kumar has progressed to the semi-finals of the Men’s Freestlye Wrestling 66Kg category after beating Uzbekistan’s Ikhtiyor Navruzov 3-1
Kumar had progressed to the quarters of the event earlier today after beating Ramazan Sahin of Turkey by the same score.
In an action-packed game which saw Sushil Kumar triumph by three points to one in the first round, which meant he took a point’s lead into the second round, Navruzov won the second round 2-1 to draw level.
In a situation akin to the match against Ramazan, the third round would decide who would progress to the semis.
But Kumar rallied to triumph by two points to none in the final round, which gave him a cumulative score of 3-1.
Kumar, who won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics is slated to face Kazakh Akhzhurek Tanatarov imminently at the time of writing.
