Cody Rhodes. What an interesting one.
He sure knows how to wrestle thanks to his father! *laughs*
Okay, all jokes aside, he obviously has both in-ring ability and above average mic work. Some people say getting buried by older stars like Big Show and Christian make him look like a joke, a loser, a person that doesn’t deserve a World title shot.
That, my friends, is far from the truth.
Here’s a way that I see him making his way to the top and getting people to believe that he can actually be taken seriously. Sort of.
A Face.
The Rebel. I would love to see Cody Rhodes develop the kind of attitude where he doesn’t listen to the boss, blows off heel tag partners, and just screws with people until people start to say “Hey! That guy is funny, but in a way that makes him cool. Not in a way that makes him and idiot, like Santino Marella(I’ll come across him eventually in a blog).”
He could, after people start to like him and he builds up enough momentum, tick the boss off and be put in a near impossible match(against a big guy, Henry? Show? Tensai?) and have him win by cheating, so he can be the kind of person you hate to love.
Like the Joker from Batman! We all know he’s the bad guy, but hey, everybody knows that the movie just sucks without him!
Anyway, back to Rhodes.
Another possibility to develop his character is to have him be the underdog in a match and have him come out the winner.
At the next pay-per-view, he could possibly earn a title match, but not by “beating” his opponent, by stealing a win from whatever face is in the match.
Possibly Cody Rhodes vs. Kane in the future and have AJ come out with CM Punk to distract Kane and Rhodes hits the Beautiful Disaster kick? Who knows.
Some of these ideas seem farfetched and as if they won’t happen for a long time. In the next two years, however, I see Cody Rhodes holding the World Heavyweight Championship for an extended run. 4-6 months.
Cody may in fact have the luck of being told he will win Money in the Bank. It would be a great stepping stone toward the main event status.
Whether he defeats Orton or Sheamus or another face for the championship or even if it’s a face turn and he defeats the likes of Barrett(If he holds it) or Bryan or Del Rio, it’s still a great idea to make it the way he wins the belt.
Again, give it two years tops, and he’ll be one of the top wrestlers in the square circle.
He’s got an appealing wrestling look, he’s got the charisma, he’s got the talent. Now it’s just time to use him properly!!
