Former WWE superstar Adam Copeland aka Edge will soon find himself with a new set of fans after television network CW confirmed that he has been cast as super villain Atom Smasher on the hit TV show The Flash.
The 41-year-old is all set to appear on the show’s second season premier, and is out to get the Scarlett Speedsters head on a platter if his character description is anything to go by. The CW describes the Atom Smasher as:
"One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him."
Originally a hero, Atom Smasher developed an evil streak during veteran comic writer Geoff Johns’ stint as a writer for JSA due to the murder of his mother. The sinster streak will now be written into the show, of which Johns is a producer, and will be the first bad guy to lock horns with Barry Allen aka The Flash, played by Grant Gustin, next season.
The former wrestler will make his debut on the series when it returns on October 6th.
Copeland is also a native of Canada, where The Flash and its sister show Arrow is shot, and will undoubtedly be a brilliant addition to the shows already impressive list of guest stars, one of whom is Mark Hamill.
