First match signed for WWE No Way Out

The first match (and most likely the main event) for WWE‘s next PPV, the returning No Way Out, has been signed. As a result of Monday Night RAW this week, John Cena will take on “The World’s Largest Athlete”, The Big Show.

In case you didn’t watch Over the Limit this past Sunday night, John Cena took on WWE General Manager John Laurinaitis in a No Holds Barred Match with the stipulations that, should Laurinaitis lose, he would be fired, and should any current WWE wrestler interfere in the match for any reason, they would be fired as well. After the Big Show was fired by Laurinaitis on last week’s Monday Night RAW, he made an appearance at the end of the match, dragging Laurinaitis back to the ring after he tried to flee the building through the crowd.

In the closing moments, Show threw Laurinaitis into the ring and appeared to get ready to deliver a chokeslam. It appeared Laurinaitis was begging for mercy as Show had him gripped by the throat, and Show eventually let go, only to throw Laurinaitis into the waiting arms of Cena. As Cena was getting ready to land the Attitude Adjustment on the GM, Show surprised the live crowd when he knocked Cena out with a WMD, allowing Laurinaitis to get the easy pin and get his job. Since Show had been fired the previous Monday, he was not considered a WWE employee, and therefore, the interference was legal.

After Cena called Show out to explain himself the next night on RAW, Show explained that he had agreed to a new deal on Saturday (with the official contract being signed Monday morning, according to Michael Cole on commentary), and he did what he did at Over the Limit because it was the only way to save his job. He wanted his job back, and agreed to help Laurinaitis in order to get what he wanted.

At the end of RAW, as Cena was looking for Show, he ran into Laurinaitis, who didn’t know where Show was. He also reminded Cena that he could not touch Mr. Laurinaitis or he would be fired, a declaration that was made earlier in the night. As Laurnaitis left the area, Cena turned around, only to be knocked out by a WMD courtesy of Show once again, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere to land the blow.

Although this part has not been confirmed, it is expected Cena and Show will face off in a Cage Match at the big PPV, to go with the “No Way Out” theme. One or two other matches are expected to be announced as cage matches as well, but this has not been confirmed.
