Impact Wrestling Result (02 August 2012)

We begin with a brawl erupting from backstage and into the arena between Aries & Roode and King & Ion. They trade and Roode slams King into the steps as Aries takes it to Ion. The bell rings and we are officially underway.

Austin Aries & Kenny King vs. Bobby Roode & Zema Ion

Aries hits a side suplex on Ion after Roode hesitates to make the tag. King and Aries give Ion a double airplane spin and simultaneous chops to the chest. King drops a springboard leg drop for 2. Aries slingshots in with an elbowdrop to Ion across King’s knees. Aries gets 2 on Ion.

King tags back in and they keep Ion in their corner. King is caught in the corner but resumes with shoulderblocks and makes a cover for 2. Aries tags back in who leaps in with a twist over the top and tags King back in. King goes to the ropes and is kneed in the back by Roode. Ion accidentally clotheslines Roode off the apron. Roode pulls King out of the ring and drives his back into the apron. Ion launches over the top and front flips onto King on the outside. Roode puts the boots to King and sends him back in where Ion gets 2.

Roode tags in and continues the assault complete with spitting in the face of Aries on the apron. Roode keeps King down and executes a nice suplex and a knee to the face. Roode punches Aries in the face on the apron. Ion tags in and takes it to King, keeping the ring cut-off.

King fights Ion off the corner ropes, Roode pushes King off and to the floor. Roode brings King in and continues with strikes and stomps. Roode tags Ion. Ion stomps on King’s arm. King hits a cradle suplex and they both reach for the tag. Roode tags in but the ref doesn’t see Aries make the tag also.

Roode drags King to their corner and stomps on King with Ion behind Earl’s back.

King fights out of the corner and hits an Enzuigiri on Ion but Roode breaks the cover. Aries comes off the top and connects with a dropkick on Roode. Aries dives on Roode on the outside. King drops Ion in the ring for the win.

Winners – Austin Aries & Kenny King

Sting says he is giving everybody the benefit of the doubt, but he is going to the ring and he is going to call someone out. He says he wants to get to the bottom of this Aces and Eights ordeal, and everyone will find out what’s going on in a moment. Sting comes out to the ring and says he knows someone has an inside scoop about Aces and Eights, and he needs Storm to come meet him. Storm says he has everyone asking him the same questions, but he doesn’t need any help because he can kick some ass on his own. Storm says he remembers Kurt Angle attacking him from behind, but ended up beating him three out of four times, and once it was for the World Championship.

Kurt Angle comes to the ring and says he heard his name so he had to come out, and he says Storm has been on top with the title, but he also saw him quit. Kurt says he doesn’t see what motive he has, because Aces and Eights attacked him backstage after Storm called him out for a tournament match. He says Storm needs to listen because all of the evidence is pointing towards him, and he wants to know why eight men ran from him. Kurt says he is begging Aces and Eights to show up tonight, because they will have an ass kicking party and Sting says he likes the sound of that. Kurt tells Storm he is going to make him tap out, then Storm says they will see about that as Kurt leaves the ring.

After seeing photos from AJ Styles’ promotional tour of Australia, we get a recap of the ongoing issues with Claire Lynch and their relationship. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian are shown entering their locker room, and they are talking about AJ being on vacation instead of working. Kaz says AJ is busy romancing other women, then they talk about what is happening with Claire and her pregnancy. Daniels says they are upstanding citizens, and they will throw her a proper baby shower that will have all of the appropriate gifts and items.

Bound For Glory Series: Bully Ray vs Robbie E (w/ Rob Terry)

Bully Ray comes out and says he heard what James Storm said before, but he has known him for too long, and he doesn’t trust him. Robbie makes his entrance but Terry attacks Bully before the bell, then Robbie gets a few strikes in. Robbie taunts Bully a bit, but Bully chops him across the chest then suprises him with a Bubba Cutter for the win.

Winner – Bully Ray

Madison Rayne is shown talking to Earl Hebner, and Earl has a bunch of gifts for her but she says he doesn’t have to do that because she likes him. Gail Kim walks over and asks what is going on, then Madison says he would never help them cheat because he’s a professional. Madison assures Gail that he will call their match right down the middle tonight, then she walks away with her gifts but Gail looks unsure about it.

#1 Contender’s Match (Knockouts Championship): Tara vs Madison Rayne vs Gail Kim vs Mickie James

Madison and Gail clear the ring and celebrate a bit, but Tara jumps back in and attacks them both until the teamwork is too much for her. Madison waves to the crowd while Gail stomps Tara, then she tries to steal a pin when Gail lets up on the attack. Mickie pulls Gail outside but Gail reverses a whip and sends Mickie into the corner, then she rolls back in and breaks up a pin attempt. Gail keeps Mickie out of the ring while Madison has Tara in a rear choke, then Gail whips Madison in the corner and she collides with Tara.

Gail runs at the corner and spills to the floor, then Mickie comes back in and drops Madison with a neckbreaker for a near fall. Gail argues with Earl Hebner after a pin count, then she drops Mickie with a backbreaker and goes to pull Tara in from the apron. Tara knocks her down and follows with a bodyslam, then she goes up top but Madison trips her up and punches her in face. Madison tries to climb up top but Mickie pulls her down, then she slams Madison’s head into the turnbuckles while Gail attacks Tara in the opposite corner.

Gail hits a superplex and crawls for a pin, but Hebner is distracted by Madison and Gail argues with him about their flirting. Mickie sends Gail outside then hits Madison with some running forearms and a flapjack, and she heads up top but Gail shoves her off the turnbuckles. Tara hits Gail with a Widow’s Peak but Madison goes for a Rayne Drop, then Tara reverses it and rolls her up. Hebner counts the pin, but he awards Madison with the win and he says Tara’s shoulders were down.

Winner: Madison Rayne

Bobby Roode is backstage talking about how he told everyone about James Storm being involved with Aces and Eights. He says everyone believes him now, and he will be in the main event tonight because he will prove himself right. The camera shifts to Austin Aries, who says it sounds like a big party and he’s throwing his name into the hat.

Sting is with Brooke Hogan in his office, and he says he needs to know how her father is doing because she sees what kind of shape he is in. Brooke says it is hard to watch him mend, and she is freaked out but she was always taught to stay strong and stand up for yourself. She says she doesn’t know how bad things will get, but Sting says he just wants to know if she is well enough to do her job. Brooke says she hopes it doesn’t go too far and get the Knockouts involved, but Sting tells her it’s time for war. A stage hand comes in and says he has to give her an envelope right away, then Brooke opens it and sees the “Dead Man’s Hand” cards and rushes out saying she has to leave.

Eric Young is backstage with ODB, but she says they have a serious problem because Brooke Hogan has been on her ass about defending their titles. He says Hulk Hogan looks too young for kids, then ODB says they haven’t defended their belts in two months and he’s a man with a women’s title. EY says he has a lot on his plate with his new TV show, so they will have to keep the belts separate so they don’t have to defend them. ODB looks confused but EY runs away and says they can’t defend the titles this way, and ODB shakes her head and asks where her fried chicken is.

Kid Kash (w/ Gunner) vs Chavo Guerrero (w/ Hernandez)

Chavo takes Kash down with a snapmare, but Kash gets back up and puts him in a side headlock before hitting a shoulder block. Chavo comes back with an armdrag takedown, then he puts Kash in an armbar but Kash punches his way out of it. He goes after Chavo and gets tagged with an uppercut, then Kash blocks a waistlock and elbows him in the face. Kash hits him with some mounted punches until the ref drags him off of Chavo, then Chavo hits him with a few more uppercuts.

Kash blocks a Thesz press and slams Chavo on the mat, then he hits a backbreaker for a near fall and follows it with a bodyslam. Kash goes up top and calls for a moonsault, but Chavo gets his knees up to block it. Chavo hits some forearm shots and a clothesline, then he follows with a hurricanrana and a dropkick for a near fall. He sets Kash up and hits a rolling senton from the apron, then he sets up a tornado DDT but Gunner jumps on the apron. Kash kicks him in the head and calls for a spike suplex, but Chavo counters with the Three Amigos and follows with a Frog Splash for the win.

Winner – Chavo Guerrero

Kurt Angle is talking with Wes Brisco, and Kurt asks how his father is before asking what he is doing there. Brisco says he has been training and wants to be a wrestler, then he asks Kurt to help him out. Kurt asks if he wants to wrestle him, then Brisco says he would appreciate it if Kurt put a good word into Hulk Hogan for him. Devon and Garret Bischoff walk in and say hello, then they recruit Kurt to take care of Aces and Eights since he already got attacked twice. Kurt says he is with them, then Devon and Garret leave, and Kurt asks about his plans and Brisco says he wants to party after the show.

Dixie Carter is seen backstage talking about the AJ Styles situation, and she says they haven’t heard her side yet but it’s way past time for AJ to speak up. While this is going on, Christopher Dainels and Kazarian are shown heading to the ring with gifts as we go to a commercial break. Kaz and Daniels are in the ring when we get back, and they say AJ is probably knocking up another girl in Australia, but they want Claire to come to the ring for her party. They tell her AJ’s redneck family should be doing this, and she looks confused but they unwrap some gifts and show her diapers and clothes. Daniels shows her a baby doll in AJ’s ring gear, then Claire breaks down and screams at the camera. She says AJ needs to do the right thing for their child, then she leaves with the doll being held like an infant.

Joseph Park is shown taking a phone call backstage, and he says he doesn’t have any plans for more matches, but he needs to get back to work. Park says his law firm is being retained for representation, and he approaches Sting and asks if he too would also like to keep him around. Sting says he is covered, but he wants to know how Park hit a picture perfect Black Hole Slam in a match with Bully Ray. Park says he doesn’t know what he means, then he pulls him in for a picture and says he is going to Tweet it out to his followers.

Bound For Glory Series: James Storm vs Kurt Angle

Storm sends Kurt off the ropes but he gets knocked down with a shoulder block, then Kurt applies a waistlock but Storm reverses it. Kurt counters with an armbar, then Storm takes him down and puts him in a hammerlock. Sting walks down the ramp as they continue to counter each other, then Storm hits a shoulder tackle and puts Kurt in an armbar. Devon and Garret Bischoff also head out to ringside, then Kurt throws Storm outside but Storm skins the cat and comes back with some mounted punches. Kurt blocks a kick, then he attacks Storm in the corner and chokes him with his boot before the ref backs him away.

Kurt whips Storm across the ring but Storm kicks him in the face, then Kurt catches him offguard with a belly-to-belly suplex as Bully Ray walks out through the crowd. Storm pulls Kurt inside and hits a hanging DDT, then Bobby Roode makes his way out and Austin Aries is right behind him. Storm hits an enziguiri on the apron, but Kurt surprises him with a German suplex on his way back in, and follows with two more suplexes. Kurt calls for an Angle Slam but Storm floats over, then Kurt kicks him in the face for a two count before going for an ankle lock. Storm counters it and hits his own Angle Slam for a near fall, then Storm picks him up and goes for Closing Time, but Kurt counters with an ankle lock.

Storm refuses to tap out and he reaches for the ropes, but Kurt pulls him back into the middle of the ring and Storm tries to psych himself up. Storm shifts his weight and kicks Kurt away, then he gets up and surprises Kurt with a Last Call for the win. Everyone looks around for Aces and Eights while Kurt and Storm shake hands, then Storm calls Aces and Eights out and tells them they want a fight. Bobby Roode says it’s weird because Storm beat Kurt by himself, and he didn’t need help tonight and he just proved himself right. Roode continues to accuse Storm of being behind it, then Bully Ray goes after Storm and everyone starts brawling while Sting watches it all break down.

Winner – James Storm
