For years fans have been suffering from the poor tag team display that the WWE has put on and in recent times,we see that the WWE has come up with a full display of new tag teams. The team of Kane and Daniel Bryan sure has created a lot of buzz among enthusiastic fans and also the fact that there exists another very popular team of Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara has only stepped up the interest levels of fans one step further.
With the likes of The Prime Time Players, Primo and Epico, R-truth and Kofi Kingston, the list is just getting stronger and stronger. Looking at the potential that each and every tag team holds today, it can only be said that things are getting better for the fans and for the WWE when it comes to the tag team section.
But let’s not get too excited as we know WWE is great when it comes to providing blips but we can always hope that it is not that.
There is a glimmer of hope as WWE shows us something new every week and gives us a feeling that the tag team division is going through a revival phase. Though the glory days of tag team wrestling seem to have ended, we can still say that the tag team division is trying to make a comeback. With the likes of Kane and Rey Mysterio pushed into this phase of wrestling, it is quite obvious that WWE is trying to bring back the former glory of the division. The young stars who are also a part of the tag team division have shown a lot of commitment along with the sure shot hall of famers mentioned above.
There is enough focus on the tag team division today and the tag team title is given it’s desired importance after staying locked up in stockroom for a real long time.
The most interesting part of the tag team revival for many would be the way Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara are being pushed as a team. With the commentary table repeatedly reminding us of the fact that they have been undefeated as a team, the crowd surely does get behind these two high flying wrestlers quite well. The match of Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs. Primo and Epico in last night’s Raw seemed to have just the right amount of high flying wrestling to unnerve us as the four speedy wrestlers put in a hell of a show. The so called double 619 from the team and the springboard offense of Sin Cara just made the crowd quite enthusiastic. But once the match was over, The Prime Time Players attacked Mysterio and Cara and made an emotional statement of them being a healthy No.1 contender.
It is nice to see WWE pushing these mid card wrestlers along with the experienced ones and thereby enabling them to learn better in the ring. The fact that Titus O’Neil and Young were given a narrative does imply the amount of trust WWE has in these wrestlers. Not only does it motivate these young wrestlers, but also provides the show an additional boost.
The team of Little Jimmy and Kofi Kingston got a rematch immediately in this week’s Raw and this is something that WWE have greatly improved on. Unlike last time, when R-truth and Kofi Kingston were sidelined after their title victory, this time Kane and Daniel Bryan were put in a rematch immediately after their main event victory.
One has to also understand that the match wasn’t a throwaway. It helped prove to the crowd that the champions and the contenders meant business here. The fact that these two people came up with a new catchphrase “I am the new tag team champion” has made it quite interesting as WWE is coming up with new ones every time the crowd loses interest in the old catchphrases.
The match between the teams was quite good and in fact it was the match of the night. Unlike the general trend where most of the fight is done outside the ring, this particular match had a lot of infighting which made the crowd get behind the wrestlers.
Thus, looking at the way things are heading now, it can be said that the WWE has started taking the tag team division quite seriously and heard the chants of fans who have been voicing their opinions for quite sometime now.
