New Delhi – Nandininagar, a township between Faizabad and Gonda, has come up as the Uttar Pradesh franchisee for the Indian Wrestling League (IWL).
Nandininagar is a town with a culture of wrestling.
The team is owned by Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhusan Saran Singh.
“Nandininagar has hosted a few national championships and the popularity of wrestling there is overwhelming,” said Singh.
Chairman of IWL G.S. Mander said: “WFI is happy that a team from one of the most wrestling crazy centres has joined the IWL.”
Jindal Steel Works (JSW) headed by Sajjan Jindal had also bought a franchise earlier in the six franchisee-owned league commencing Jan 16.
