New participants added to RAW Money in the Bank ladder match

We learned last week that The Big Show would be the first entrant in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE title contract at the pay-per-view of the same name. Big Show made his intentions known on this past Friday Night Smackdown!, and after RAW tonight, we have learned the names of three other competitors in the match.

On RAW, guest General Manager Vickie Guerrero made the announcement that the Money in the Bank ladder Match for the WWE title contract would feature only former WWE Champions. In addition to the Big Show, Kane has also been added to the match, as well as John Cena, and finally Chris Jericho, who made his return to RAW tonight after serving a 30-day suspension for desecrating a Brazilian national flag while WWE was on tour there.

So far, only one of these four have ever won a Money in the Bank ladder match. Chris Jericho has the most experience, as this will be his fourth MITB match, not to mention he has more total experience in ladder matches than the other three combined. This will be the Big Show’s second MITB match, and as for Kane, this will be his fifth MITB match, and he is the only one of the four to win one, picking up the win in 2010 (and later cashing in successfully on then-World Champion Rey Mysterio later that night). In regards to John Cena, this will be his first time in the match.

So far, these are the only four announced competitors for the match, and it is unknown if any others will be added. Traditionally, the Money in the Bank ladder match consists of eight competitors, and this is only half. Considering there aren’t too many other former WWE Champions on the current roster outside of the Miz (who likely won’t be involved in the match due to him currently being away to film The Marine 3: Homefront) and Alberto Del Rio (who will either face Sheamus at MITB, or be in the World title contract MITB match), there’s a very strong possibility that these four will be the only ones competing.

It’s unfortunate, as the MITB match is usually reserved for lower-tier guys, with one of them getting the chance to win the case and automatically get pushed to the upper tier. This time, all four guys are already established main eventers, with nothing really left to prove. All four are multi-time champions who have main evented countless PPVs. People have always counted on MITB to help make a new star, and if these four guys are the only ones competing in this particular match, a lot of people are going to be disappointed, and several lower-tier wrestlers will have to take an unnecessary backseat.
