Night of Champions 2012: Predicting the card

Well, SummerSlam is over and we are on the fast track to Night of Champions. Even though Night of Champions usually proves to be a somewhat unspectacular PPV, I enjoy the concept that every championship must be defended on the pay-per-view, which forces WWE to give us a Divas match, a tag team match, and a US title match, things we rarely get. But, I also don’t like the concept of Night of Champions because every championship should be defended at every pay-per-view, not just one. Well, enough of my conflicting feelings about the pay-per-view concept, let’s get into my card predictions.

Jinder Mahal vs. Ryback

These two have been building a little bit of a feud over the past few weeks, which included Mahal taking on two local jobbers. If this match doesn’t happen on Raw or Smackdown (which would be a dumb idea), I wouldn’t be surprised to see this match happening unannounced at Night of Champions, or even on the pre-show.

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane

Trust me, I don’t want this match to happen again, but seeing as Kane was pissed and angry after Bryan rolled him up for a victory at SummerSlam, it looks like this feud isn’t over yet.

Cody Rhodes vs. Sin Cara

This match was originally supposed to take place at SummerSlam, but due to time constraints, it was left off the card. So, naturally I would assume that this semi-feud will end at Night of Champions. Maybe a mask vs. hair match?

Damien Sandow vs. Brodus Clay

Another match that was supposed to happen at SummerSlam, Damien Sandow vs. Brodus Clay looks like it will continue to Night of Champions, maybe on the pre-show. This match has a lot of potential (not on match quality of course) for character developments, whether it’s Brodus Clay or Damien Sandow (hopefully Damien Sandow) who comes out on top.

Layla vs. Kaitlyn

I know, I know. Two faces going against each other? Highly unlikely. But Kaitlyn has a little bit of momentum on her side, and Eve isn’t going to be competing for a while, so I’m gonna make a half-hearted prediction and say that Kaitlyn will face Layla at Night of Champions. Maybe a Kaitlyn heel turn? She was supposed to be a part of the Divas of Doom.

Kofi Kingston & R-Truth & The Primetime Players

I was very disappointed that PTP didn’t win the tag titles on Sunday. I’m even more disappointed that we’ll probably have to see this match again.

Antonio Cesaro vs. Santino Marella

Santino Marella FINALLY lost his United States Championship at SummerSlam to the up and coming Antonio Cesaro. Now we just have endure the rematch clause at Night of Champions.

The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

This is probably my most outlandish prediction, but there is no one in the WWE I can think of that can challenge the Miz for the IC title, so I’m just gonna say that he will somehow face Rey again. Like I said, this is an outlandish prediction.

Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton

The ending to Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio at SummerSlam was pretty stupid. Sheamus turned heel for ten seconds to hit Alberto Del Rio with a shoe, and push his legs off the rope after he pinned him. I don’t know why this finish happened, but it’s pretty obvious we will see Sheamus and Del Rio face off again, but WWE doesn’t like to keep Orton out of the title picture, so I think they’ll throw in the Viper into the mix and make it a Triple Threat Match.

CM Punk vs. John Cena

This one is pretty obvious. John Cena have Big Show an AA, CM Punk stole the win. It kicks Big Show out of the title picture, and leaves Cena and Punk to face off at Night of Champions. First of all, this match should have happened at SummerSlam. Cena and Punk work magic with each other, and Big Show takes that magic and wipes his ass with it. So, it will be nice to see these two face off at Night of Champions.
