Over The Limit: Match predictions

WWE is going to have a hard time following up Extreme Rules. In what is usually a throw away PPV, Over The Limit still has the potential to be good. Not Extreme Rules good, but good. With matches like Punk vs. Bryan and the World Heavyweight Championship Fatal Four Way, predictions from fans have all been extremely different. Well, it’s time to give you my two cents by giving you the odds, my wants, and my predictions for Over The Limit.

Zack Ryder vs. Kane

Odds: Even though the odds aren’t in his favor, Zack Ryder still has an itty bitty 1-5 chance of winning. Kane heads into the match with a 1-2 chance of winning however, and you can easily undertand why.

Want: Many fans might want to see Zack Ryder get an upset victory and use the momentum to climb back up the card, but I’m not one of those people. In fact, I want this exact situation to happen for Kane (minus the upset part of the victory of course), so he can start to rebuild his unstoppable monster like persona that was crushed by John Cena and Randy Orton.

Prediction: Although I will no doubt get what I want with a Kane win, we still won’t get the monster back as he will probably be crushed by some babyface the night after.

John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis

Odds: Surprisingly, both Cena and Laurinaitis have a 1-2 chance of winning.

Want: I simply want John Laurinaitis to win. I want Laurinaitis to win, and Cena to take some time off. He’s going through a divorce, he’s hurting, and he’s been working non-stop for four years. But we can’t just have Laurinaitis win cleanly, can we? I want Big Show to make a run-in and help Laurinaitis get the win. You can’t terminate an already fired superstar, can you?

Prediction: I think that ninety percent of what I want will happen (except for the Cena taking some much deserved time off part).

Layla (c) vs. Beth Phoenix

Odds: Layla head into the match with a 1-2 chance of retaining, while the scarcely seen Beth has a 1-4 chance of winning.

Want: I’m actually going to put in a little prediction here. For every single pay-per-view before Kharma returns, I will want and predict that Kharma returns. How do you not? Not only is she ready to return, but every single pay-per-view seems like the perfect time! That’s why, for what is probably going to happen quite frequently, I will predict that Kharma returns after the match. But who does she target? Newly crowned Divas Champion Beth Phoenix, of course. Prediction: See above.

R-Truth & Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger

Odds: Are you ready for this? R-Truth and Kofi Kingston have a 1-2 chance of retaining. That was expected. This is the part that won’t be. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger have a 1-20 chance of winning the tag belts. We all knew the odds wouldn’t be in their favor, but 1-20? WWE couldn’t even throw them a bone and make them look like actual threats to the titles? Want: Even though I am huge fans of both Ziggler and Swagger, and absolutely hate R-Truth, I would like to see Kingston and Truth retain. Then after the match, AW’s stable can come out and demolish them like we’ve been waiting for them to do.

Prediction: Kingston and Truth retain, AW’s stable merely watches from backstage.

Sheames (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho

Odds: In what may surprise most, Jericho has a 1-2 chance of winning, while Sheamus has a 1-5 chance of winning, and Rio and Orton have a 1-7 chance of winning. Not only is Jericho the odds on favorite, his odds are actually extremely better then anybody else’s. Want: Hmmm, so many possibilities here. Do I want Sheamus to retain so Wade Barrett can cash in a Money In The Bank briefcase on him in the future? Do I want Randy Orton to win and turn heel on Sheamus? Do I want Del Rio to win and…..ya, no. Out of all the possibilities, the one I want to see the most is Jericho win, setting up for an Orton/Jericho feud. Jericho’s return hasn’t been a flop, as we’ve seen some amazing matches and promos from him, but since he’s probably leaving after SummerSlam, the WWE should give him a title beforehand. Then we can all get a Jericho/Orton match for SummerSlam, which would make everyone happy.

Prediction: This is probably one of the hardest matches to predict, but I think I’m going to have to go with Sheamus retaining. WWE seems to like what he’s doing, and he is doing a great job of being the top baby-face for Smackdown. I personally believe that he is a lot better when chasing the title, but I think WWE begs to differ.

CM Punk (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

Odds: In what will no doubt be the match of the night, Daniel Bryan has a 1-2 chance of winning, while CM Punk has a 1-4 chance. Surprising, right?Want: Oooooh, this is a tough one. Do I want CM Punk to retain and extend his title reign, or do I want Bryan to win and be more awesome? Honestly, like the Jericho/Punk match last month, I don’t know what I want. I would be happy with either outcome, and the only thing I really want is an amazing match (which we will no doubt get).

Prediction: Punk retains after some interference from AJ. Match of the night. Feud continues. Also, it will sadly not be the main event, as Laurinaitis vs. Cena will for some dumb-ass reason close the show.
