If sources from CNN-News18 are to believed, then the Wrestling Federation of India(WFI) have sent Narsingh Yadav’s name to the Indian Olympic Association(IOA) to compete in the 74kg category at the Rio Olympics.
There has been a serious battle over the past few days on who India should send in this category for Rio 2016, with Narsingh saying that because he had clinched the quota at the Wold Championships in Las Vegas last year, he deserved to travel to Brazil to compete in the Games.
Sushil, on the other hand, has constantly asked for a trial to decide who would be India’s participant in the Games.
A total of 6 wrestlers had booked their spot for Rio 2016 courtesy various qualifying events, and two others – Babita Kumari and Ravinder Khatri – also sealed their spot last night after their respective opponents in the Sumiya Erdenechimeg of Mongolia and Zhanarbek Kenzheev of Kyrgyzstan were found guilty of testing positive. Kumari and Khatri have qualified in the 53 kg and 85 kg categories respectively.
