According to reports, Kumar will most probably miss out on the Asian Wrestling Championships that will be held in Kyrgyzstan from February 24 to March 4 due to his knee injury being aggravated in the selection trials for the tournament. But, the Wrestling Federation of India has denied ruling him out for the tournament and he is still on the list of the wrestlers travelling to Bishkek.
Also, in the ongoing third edition of the Pro Wrestling League, he has been replaced by Vinod Omprakash for his franchise Delhi Sultans in the 74kg category and will subsequently miss out the clash against arch-rival Parveen Rana of Veer Marathas.
However, he is set to be available for the Common Wealth Games to be held in Carrara, Australia starting on April 4 according to sources.

According to several sources, in case he does not train 15 to 20 days prior to the tournament, he won't be taking part in the Asian meet.
He would also miss his debut this season and maybe, will make his debut in the fourth edition of the PWL.
