In the historic 25th Royal Rumble match held at St. Louis Missouri, ‘The Great White’ Sheamus emerged as the winner by eliminating pre-match favorite Chris Jericho.
Sheamus entered the match at #22 and this is his first Royal Rumble match victory. Chris Jericho, who promised that it will be end of the world at the Royal Rumble, entered the match at #28 and was involved in a teetering battle with Sheamus. But, the Irishman finished it off with a Brogue Kick that threw Jericho onto the floor.
In a pulsating match that lasted nearly an hour, several big names made their return. Here is a list of returnees:
- The Great Khali (#15)
- Hacksaw Jim Duggan (#19)
- Kharma (#21)
- Road Dogg (#23)
But, it was the Great White who stole the show by becoming the first Irish born superstar to win the Royal Rumble. Sheamus is a former WWE champion and King of the Ring winner. Courtesy of this Royal Rumble victory, he will be main-eventing Wrestlemania 28, which will be held at Miami, Florida on April 1, 2011.
