The Staty Awards: SummerSlam 2012

Daytona 500 Speed Week - Day 9

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – FEBRUARY 26: Joey Logano (L), driver of the #20 The Home Depot Toyota, greets professional wrestler John Cena in the garage area prior to the start of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 26, 2012 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

SummerSlam wasn’t very good to be honest. Lesnar vs. Triple H was shitty, the WWE Championship match was slow, and Sheamus vs. Del Rio was nothing new. Although SummerSlam in no way lived up to it’s hype, there were still a few diamonds in the rough, in the form of Ziggler vs. Jericho and Miz vs. Mysterio. Anyways, it’s time to hand out awards for the 2nd (or 3rd) biggest pay-per-view of the year. And before you guys at SportsKeeda bombard the comments section with “Cena got nothing that isn’t fair” or “Why didn’t Cena get anything”, I can tell you right now that Cena was in a shitty match and does not get anything, so don’t complain!

Best Match Award

The Best Match Award goes to the best match that took place at SummerSlam 2012

Winner: Chris Jericho vs. Dolph ZigglerChris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler was the match I (and a lot of other people) was looking forward to the most, and boy did it deliver. The match started off slow, but it picked up about 5 minutes in and never slowed down. The match featured some nice spots like a SuperFrankensteiner, a Lionsault reversed into a Zig-Zag, and a devastating looking Liontamer (not Walls of Jericho, Lawler and Cole!). Although I think it would’ve have been better to have Dolph Ziggler win the match, it was still a great way to kick off the show.

WWE Monday Night Raw In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – AUGUST 24: Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. (L) stares down wrestler Chris Jericho during the WWE Monday Night Raw show at the Thomas & Mack Center August 24, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather was a special guest host during the broadcast.

Best Feud Award

The Best Feud Award goes to the individuals who participated in the best rivalry that culminated or progressed at SummerSlam 2012.

Winner: Triple H vs. Brock LesnarWell, the match was shitty, but at least the feud was good. These two had been building up their feud since the day after Extreme Rules, and although it wasn’t a good match, the build-up made it seem like anyone could win and featured some great segments with Paul Heyman, Stephanie McMahon, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar. By the way, NEVER GIVE BROCK A MIC EVER.

Best Diva AwardThe Best Diva Award goes to the Diva who excelled the most at SummerSlam 2012 and the events leading up to it.Winner: AJ, Kelly Kelly, & Layla

Each of them won a match. God the Divas Division sucks right now…

Biggest Loser Award

The Biggest Loser award goes to the individual who has failed the most at SummerSlam 2012 and the events leading up to it.

Winner (or loser): Heath SlaterI’m not afraid to say it. Heath Slater has won me over in the past few months. He was something I looked forward too on Raw when he was jobbing to legends. But, he still has lost to everybody, so Slater gets the Biggest Loser Award.

WWE Smackdown Live Tour in Durban

DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA – JULY 08: The Celtic Warrior Sheamus during the WWE Smackdown Live Tour at Westridge Park Tennis Stadium on July 08, 2011 in Durban, South Africa.

Best SuperstarThe Best Superstar award goes to the individual who has excelled the most at SummerSlam 2012 and the events leading up to it.

Winner: SheamusYes, he had an okay match with a shitty ending. Yes, I find him to be a very bland champion. But Sheamus just plows through everybody and everything, and is pretty much the Irish John Cena. So Sheamus gets this award.
