This Week in WWE Superstars

Shantha

WWE Superstars is generally considered to be a pure wrestling show, unlike the other shows of WWE which are mainly entertainment themed shows. This week too, WWE Superstars had four good wrestling singles matches consisting of mid card level superstars and divas. Let us take a look at what happened in these matches and which ‘superstars’ emerged victorious in the end of those matches.

Match 1: Kaitlyn Vs Alicia Fox

Divas Singles Match

For those who don’t know yet who Kaitlyn is, she is the winner of NXT season 3 which was an all-diva show. Of late, she has been frequently involved in matches on WWE Smackdown where she is being trained by Natalya. Fox and Kaitlyn put on what was a decent match on Superstars. The match started with some ground attacks by Fox. Later on, Kaitlyn showed some offensive abilities, proving her power and strength over opponent. A decent match which lost much of its fizz due to the ill timed moves by both divas.

Winner: Kaitlyn

Match Rating: 2/5

Match 2: Brodus Clay Vs Pat Silva

Singles Match

Brodus Clay faced a local wrestler Pat Silva who came out to a huge pop from his home crowd. The match began with Clay gaining the upper hand. He dominated the local wrestler throughout the match. Eventually, he emerged victorious, with a flying cross body for the three count. A regular squash match to emphasize the size and strength of Brodus Clay. Brodus Clay has a good set of skills but lacks personality which might haunt him in future.

Winner: Brodus Clay

Match Rating: 3/5

Match 3: Vladimir Kozlov Vs Primo

Singles Match

Before this match began, a recap of this week’s NXT match between JTG and Kozlov was shown wherein Kozlov got the victory. JTG came out to join the commentary team. The feud between JTG and Kozlov has been on for several weeks, which has allowed these superstars to atleast get some TV time since they are not Smackdown regulars. Primo too hasn’t got much of TV time of late. The bell rang to signal the beginning of the match. Both men tried various submission moves during the course of the match. Primo showcased some of his high flying skils and also his athletic ability. But eventually Kozlov hit a head butt to the sternum for the three count pinfall victory. The Moscow Mauler’s victory might help him to get a push on Smackdown.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov

Match Rating: 3/5

Match 4: Jack Swagger Vs Chris Masters

Singles Match

We move on to the main event of Superstars which featured the all American American, Jack Swagger and the masterpiece, chris Masters. Jack Swagger was the first to gain momentum in the match. Swagger went for his powerbomb move but Masters kicked out of it. Then it was Masters’ turn to go for his signature move – Master Lock. But Swagger averted it and went in to an attack mode. He got the win through his vicious submission move – The Ankle Lock. It was the best match of the night with no comparisons lasting for about 12 minutes. Swagger does not deserve to be on Superstars, while Masters looks to be stuck here for the foreseeable future.

Winner: Jack Swagger

Match Rating: 4/5

The Bottomline:

This edition of WWE Superstars was high on action and low on drama. Four good quality singles matches is a treat for any hardcore wrestling fan. The main event was the best match of the night with Swagger getting the victory over Masters. The quality of the Divas match and the Clay squash match were the big let downs in this show.

Show Rating: 3/5
