The final episode of WWE Raw before the Elimination Chamber event took place on 13/2/2012 at San Diego, California. With HBK poised to make his return, there were a lot of possibilities to further the Triple H – Undertaker angle. What happened on the show forced us to ponder over the possibilities of HBK turning on Triple H. There were plenty more moments on the show that were worth to be discussed about. Here are the top 10 talking points of WWE Raw 13/2/2012.
1. Raw kicked off with a special debate among the Raw elimination Chamber participants. It has to be said the debate was something fresh, something new that hasn’t been used earlier. It was a unique way to start the show by throwing the spotlight on Sunday’s Elimination Chamber event. Most importantly, it was entertaining and all 6 men chipped by executing it well. This segment gets a thumbs up.
2. Kofi Kingston’s trouble in paradise on Chris Jericho was the ‘aftermath’ of the debate. It was really good to see Kofi Kingston getting a push. His proclamation of not being an afterthought was genuine and well written angle. Many think Kofi might get stuck in the upper mid-card status despite having great athletic ability just like Shelton Benjamin and John Morrison. But Kofi can avert this by improving his mic skills furthermore.
3. Chris Jericho got the victory over Kofi Kingston in a singles match, courtesy of the codebreaker. Not a great match but a good one considering the fact that it was on free TV. Jericho seems a little bit rusty in the ring. Some of his moves weren’t well executed.
4. Daniel Bryan had the final say in the singles match between Big Show and Randy Orton. A good match which was poised for a great finish as Randy Orton hit his RKO on the Big Show. But Daniel Bryan, who was at ringside, had other plans as he attacked both men with the championship belt. This act portrayed him as a dominant heel champion, exactly the way it should have been done. This match also had the botch of the night. As Randy went for the RKO, he stumbled and Big Show fell down as if Randy had hit the move. Another side note: Randy Orton has suffered legit concussion and has been ruled out of the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match.
5. Putting the Shawn Michaels – Triple H segment in the middle of the show was a masterstroke by WWE. Shawn played his part to perfection as he turned against Triple H while trying to force him to accept Undertaker’s challenge for a rematch at Wrestlemania 28. The creative team have taken the reality route to make a possible third Wrestlemania match between Taker and Triple H. Now, the obvious question that is on everyone’s mind is whether Shawn Michaels will have any role to play in the match. With plenty of time left for wrestlemania and both Undertaker and Shawn Michaels set to appear in the mean-time, this angle has the potential to evolve into one of the most memorable angles in Wrestlemania history.
6. R-Truth picked up a surprise roll-up victory over Dolph Ziggler. This match was short and thereby WWE did the right thing by not burying Ryder.
7. CM Punk defeated the Miz fair and square in another short match. The Miz tapped out to Punk’s Anaconda Vice, belittling his chances for a win at Elimination Chamber. He has certainly gone out of favor with the top brass of the WWE.
8. Tamina Snuka has been announced as the next challenger for Beth Phoenix’s Divas Championship at Elimination Chamber. She defeated Brie Bella in a Divas singles match. Did you notice that WWE has changed her character name from Tamina to Tamina Snuka. Michael McGillicutty would be fuming on knowing about this.
9. John Cena making out with Eve was a twist in the tale. Everything that followed was well written. Zack Ryder played his part well. He should be hurt real bad after the fall from the top of the ramp. The only bummer was the Cena speech. It was a let down. Just when this angle was taking the highway, John Cena brought it back to the streets by his insipid speech. But this segment was successful in enhancing the build for sunday’s Ambulance match at Elimination Chamber.
10. Did anyone notice Eve running into the Ambulance and close the door before John Cena came over there? Was this a botch or is Eve aligned with Kane? I think it’s the latter. With Eve referring to Ryder that she was just being a friend with him, I see Eve being the catalyst of Ryder turning against Cena, thereby forcing Cena to embrace the hate. Is this the reality or am I overreacting? We may find out the intricacies on Sunday at Elimination Chamber.
