Two matches added to Night of Champions, one match changed

Night of Champions is beginning to really take shape. Two matches have been added to the card, while one that was already on the card has been tweaked ever so slightly.

First off, it has been confirmed that Antonio Cesaro will be defending the WWE United States Championship at the PPV in his first official PPV match (last month was a pre-show match on WWE.com, so it doesn’t officially count). Who will his opponent be? Well, that is a good question. As it turns out, we won’t know his opponent until the night of the show. Prior to the show beginning, WWE will once again take to their website with their traditional pre-show match, and this time, it will be a battle royal, with the winner getting a US Championship match later on in the night on the actual PPV card. While it’s hard to say who will be getting the spot, Santino Marella seems like the only one who is too obvious in NOT winning the match. Since debuting, Cesaro has faced Marella on nearly a half-dozen occasions in both title and non-title matches, and won every single one of them (save for tag team matches), completely dominating the feud in the process. It’s time for someone new to step into that spot, someone who could really benefit from getting into a title picture and having a better opportunity to showcase their skills. A guy like Tyson Kidd or Zack Ryder could really benefit from a battle royal win here.

As for the match that has been changed, the WWE Tag Team Championship match is getting a little bit of a tweak. Originally, the champions-Kofi Kingston and R-Truth-were scheduled to face The Prime-Time Players – Titus O’Neil and Darren Young – by virtue of PTP’s win over both The Usos, and Epico & Primo in a triple threat tag team match this past Friday night. However, PTP were ordered to put their spot on the PPV on the line this past Monday night, against the makeshift team of Daniel Bryan and Kane. Despite the two being enemies, Bryan and Kane pulled the victory off, and are now moving onto NOC to face Kingston and Truth. While Kane and Bryan are actually enemies in the current storylines and have very little tag team experience, it’s very likely the unlikely duo will pull off the win and snag the belts. History has a way of repeating itself in wrestling, and this type of angle has been done more times than I can count, with the unlikely team usually pulling out the win 9 times out of 10.
