Although I just posted an article on my well-wishings towards Jerry “The King” Lawler on recovering from his recent heart attack, I have just been informed of some new details that have surfaced in regards to the incident. Although it has not been one hundred-percent confirmed, it appears that Lawler may have suffered some brain damage during his heart attack. Apparently, during the attack, his brain was deprived of oxygen for several minutes, which may have resulted in permanent damage. At this time, it is unknown the amount of damage sustained.
Fortunately, there does appear to be some good news in regards to Lawler’s health. Former WWE diva and ex-wife of Jerry Lawler, Stacy “The Kat” Carter has been keeping fans updated on Lawler’s condition. Carter, who despite a divorce is still friends with Lawler, told fans that Lawler was being taken out of sedation in the hospital and is now responsive following several more procedures to his heart.
Carter also released a statement on her official Facebook page, citing the following:
I have an update on Jerry. The docs are removing his ventilation & taking him out of sedation. He is responsive, which is great!!! It took a while to revive him last night so there’s the concern of brain damage. He had some tests done which will show how much if any damage there is due to the lack of oxygen to his brain. Unfortunately, the results won’t be in until the morning.
So, while we are not completely out of the water yet, there does appear to be good news on the recovery front in regards to “The King”. Carter has also promised to keep fans updated if and when she receives any new news about Lawler’s condition, as well as if and when he will be able to leave the hospital.
In a situation like this, it is really hard to tell what is going to happen. While there is no guarantee that Lawler suffered any permanent damage to the brain during the attack, this kind of thing is unfortunately very common in regards to heart attacks. At this point, all we can do is hope that the tests on his brain come up negative, and that Lawler will make a full recovery.
Once again, I would like to extend my most heartfelt well wishes to Jerry and the rest of the Lawler family. I am really hoping he pulls through and has a speedy recovery, and even if that means he can’t commentate for WWE anymore, at least he will be alive.
Get well soon, Jerry. We’re all pulling for you.
