Who is returning to the WWE on January 2? Part 2 – Second

Shantha

This is the second of six articles analysing the six cryptic videos that have aired over the past few weeks leading up to the return of a WWE superstar on January 2nd, 2012.

While analyzing the first video – It begins, we weren’t able to come to a clear conclusion on what or who the video was about. Moreover wrestling fans were intrigued because of the usage of a creepy schoolboy, who was talking about the end of the world. Promos of this sort are the first of its kind. The 21-2-11 video packages were just videos without any message or speech. But the ‘It begins’ videos are in an entirely different league. It has to be said that WWE did a good job to follow up on the first video by coming up with several more to build the hype and confuse the audience. Here is the second video, which for unknown reasons carried the message ‘Second’.

Here is the what the boy said,

“The power cometh is a thief in the night to claim what others have taken. Those who are unjust, destruction shall come upon them and they will not escape. The second day of two-thousand twelve is coming; and it will be the end of the world as you know it.”

If he was a ‘familiar force’ in the first one, he is the ‘power’ in the second. The wordings are biblical and the final sentence is the same as it was in the first video. ‘To claim what others have taken’ is a phrase which has several implications.

If we consider the power to be Chris Jericho, he would come back to reclaim his tag ‘The best in the world’ from CM Punk. Moreover, Jericho has been complaining over the past few months about his moves, taglines and catchphrases being used by others. So that must have been what he’s coming back to reclaim. But he has already had his ‘second coming’ in 2007. Hence, if he returns now it would be his third coming. The implication of ‘second’ with regards to Chris Jericho is unexplainable.

On the other hand, the Undertaker might come back to reclaim his aura of invincibility which he almost lost at Wrestlemania 27, against Triple H, by asking for a rematch at this year’s Wrestlemania. ‘Second’ might imply that he will reign supreme for the second time over Triple H.

It may be Brock Lesnar who may be coming back to reclaim his stake as the best in the business. It would be his second coming.

But here comes the shocker! I’m going to throw in a new name into the mix as my fourth choice.

This would be the best suited option – Mr. McMahon is returning on January 2. A look back at 2011 will tell you that some of Mr. McMahon’s powers were taken by Triple H and hence, he is coming back to reclaim it. The current state of day-to-day affairs in the WWE is shabby with John Laurinaitis on Raw and Teddy Long on Smackdown. Moreover, unimaginable importance is being given to Twitter and hence Mr. McMahon is pissed off about it, which explains the twitter fuzzing before these video’s start to play. Although Mr. McMahon’s return might sound unlikely, you never know what the WWE might finally end up with.

Check back tomorrow for part 3 of this series, to know more about the implications of ‘Look Within’ video.
