This is the fourth of six articles analysing six cryptic videos that have aired over the past few weeks, leading up to the return of a WWE superstar on January 2nd, 2012.
We’ve been pondering over ‘It Begins’, ‘Second’ and ‘Look Within’ for the past three days, still without substantial claim to vouch for a superstar’s return in 2 days. We’ve got our options limited to five right now – Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Vince McMahon, Batista and Brock Lesnar. Let’s take a look at the fourth vignette, ‘Control’ which aired on the 12/12 episode of Monday night Raw .

The striking difference between this video and the previous three is that the boy talks about the girl. He says,
“As he sat upon the mount, the question arose: When shall things be, and what shall be the sign of my coming? He answered, ‘When she tells us.’ She holds the mystery of my arrival, of my rebirth. So when I beckon her, I will return to claim what is mine, and things shall never be the same again. On the second day of 2012, it will be the end of the world as you know it.”
The keyword at the end – ‘Control’, is self explanatory. The ‘She’ is controlling the ‘he’. Moreover, it can also be interpreted that the returning star wants to take control and dominate, when he comes back.
The mystery man’s arrival is signalled by a female protoganist. He is being controlled by her. Since the boy talks about ‘rebirth’, we can associate this with the dead man, Undertaker. He may be the man returning with his real life wife Michelle McCool as his manager. It is a possibility given the recent reality era happenings in the WWE. Moreover, the Undertaker has worked with his ex-wife Sara on screen. So, there is logic in this one. He may portray the American Bad-ass character and return as a heel with McCool.
The next viable option would be Chris Jericho. Y2J and Stephanie McMahon have an on-screen connection already, unlike Taker-McCool. The possible storyline would go like this: Stephanie McMahon has had enough with CM Punk and hence she is bringing Jericho back for revenge. So Chris Jericho returns to take back his tag as the best in the world from Punk. This seems logical.
The best suited option would be the McMahon clan. Mr. McMahon is returning and he is being supported by his daughter Stephanie. Stephanie is fed up with the managerial skills of Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis and hence she is coming back as the general manager with her Father.
The others lose out because of the absence of the female connection. So, the return of Batista and Brock Lesnar can be ruled out for now. But Brock Lesnar’s recent retirement from UFC has played into WWE’s hands. People are talking about his return to the WWE on 2nd, even though that might not be the case. It has aided in increasing the anticipation level for the star returning on January 2.
Since the videos have purposefully been made ambiguous, it is difficult to come to a solution on who is the mystery man. Analyzing the last two videos might help us come with a result. Right now Chris Jericho seems to be the obvious frontrunner.
The analysis of the final two videos are due within the next 24 hours. Make sure that you check them out.
