The induction of the Four Horsemen into the WWE Hall Of Fame calls our attention towards the present (or should I say, absent) stable scenario today. The last successful stable, in the WWE, was the group of revolutionary soldiers called the Nexus. And you know what that did to the career of Wade Barrett.
Here’s a look at why there is a need for great stables in the present WWE product.
1) Stables are entertaining – There won’t be many of us who didn’t enjoy the Nexus beat downs (Especially on Cena). Having a stable ensures entertainment and is an effective way to break televised monotony.

2) Creative space – The creative team has more angles to work with and have more space to try out new ideas. We have to admit that the mid card gets pretty boring more often than not. Having a stable ensures more feuds and great outside involvement in matches. Hence, greater entertainment.
3) Returning veterans – The WWE has been bringing back veterans like Nash and Booker T into the ring. This may be a move stemming from lack of confidence in the young talent. So, since the veterans are here, let them lead a team. This would do wonders for the careers of young superstars (remember Randy Orton and Batista in Evolution).

4) Relevant youngsters – A stable provides an opportunity to bring in the likes of Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater etc. into meatier and more fruitful roles. Instead of being gap fillers, they could be relevant once again (remember Nexus, Corre).
Having listed out the advantages of having a stable, let me now propose a few stables (some feasible, some fanciful).
- The European Stable – This has to be the most obvious choice for the creative team. The internet community has been clamouring for this stable to come into fruition. The members would be – Wade Barrett, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and most importantly, William Regal. Rather Evolution-esque, this team has the potential to propel the careers of the three active members to further heights (we know McIntyre needs a push!)
- The Spanish Armada – Hunico, Camacho, Epico, Primo and, Rosa. This team, though short on experience, can really work well together. The tag champs have great co-ordination and could be in the title scene for a long time. Hunico could go on to feud for a “lesser” strap, and Camacho would be the indomitable big man. Rosa, of course, would always be appreciated for her moves. In the terms of Booker, “Shucky Ducky Quack Quack!”
- Whiners Unite – Christian, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, and Dolph Ziggler. Christian can finally get his “one more match” and Vickie Guerrero can, as always, draw the heat. Cody, Jack and Dolph can remain in the upper mid card to be groomed a bit more. This could lead to interesting storylines involving some great tag team matches and some feuds involving professional jealousy.
- The New nWo – Since Nash is back, and is nowhere as good as he once was, give him a group of youngsters to work with. The ideal team would consist of – Kevin Nash, The Miz and R-Truth. Adding a heel Cena would be Awesome! Miz and Truth could team again (I liked their teamwork) and Cena could be champion once again. Although this time, he won’t be the “awww shucks” guy everybody hates, but a ruthless machine out to dominate!
Though the realization of one or two of these stables would involve several face/heel turns and supplementary draft picks, it would all be worth it. I just hope that the creative team is taking note and listening to the fans because, Stable equals entertainment. Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!
