Washington D.C is no stranger to drag-out brawls on the legislative floor, but this time it will play host to a different kind of fight, as the WWE heads to the capital of the United States for the first-ever Capitol Punishment PPV extravaganza, where championships will be defended, and old scores will be settled in front of millions of exuberant fans. With that in mind, here is what is in store for the WWE Universe at Capitol Punishment:
1. John Cena vs R-Truth (WWE Championship):
After vanquishing The Miz at Over the Limit, the Ce-nation Commander-in-Chief will defend his precious WWE Championship against his newest adversary, R-Truth. Truth has been behaving differently for the past couple of months, but this bout of lunacy seems to have given him a new found mean streak, which was evident when he took out his former tag team partner John Morrison and put him on the shelf. R-Truth claims to have ‘seceded’ from the WWE Universe, and come Capitol Punishment, his ruthless aggression will be put to its biggest test ever as he will face off against a man who may be the toughest and most resilient WWE Champion ever. Whoever wins, this is going to be one great match.
2. Randy Orton vs Christian (World Heavyweight Championship):
In his very first SmackDown after being drafted, Randy Orton stunned the world by defeating Christian for the World Heavyweight Championship, ending his dream run as champion in just five days. Orton went on to defend is title successfully against Christian at Over the Limit, and the frustration finally took its toll on Captain Charisma. Christian would shock everyone, including the Champ, by sneak attacking him from behind with the title belt on two successive occasions. Christian has now vowed to regain the coveted World heavyweight Championship, and he says that he is going to do it only for himself, and does not care about the WWE Universe anymore. But The Viper is not one to forgive and forget easily, and will be sure to unleash hell on his challenger, come Capitol Punishment.
3. The Miz vs Alex Riley:
Its former mentor vs disciple at Capitol Punishment, as Alex Riley will finally show the world his true talents as a singles performer as he takes on his former guide, The Miz. Now, it was The Miz’s arrogance which started it all, as he decided to pin the blame for all his losses to John Cena on his apprentice. The barrage of insults soon became too much to take for A-Ri, who revolted against his role model, inflicting several severe beat-downs on the Awesome One. And now, these two will finally get a chance to take out their intense loathing on each other as the square off inside the ring for the first time ever.
4. Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler (United States Championship):
Kofi Kingston’s amazing athletic prowess and death-defying acrobatic skills will be up against Dolph Ziggler’s technique and cunning as the two square off with the prestigious United States Championship on the line. Kofi Kingston won the title from Sheamus, and carried the title to Raw when he got drafted to the show. He was looking great in his newest stint, but a returning Dolph Ziggler has proved to be a thorn in his side. Ziggler and his manager, Vickie Guerrero made his return on Raw after being fired from SmackDown, and this would be the perfect opportunity for the duo to make their presence felt.
5. Wade Barrett vs Ezekiel Jackson (Intercontinental Championship):
Ever since he was ‘excommunicated’ from the Corre, Ezekiel Jackson has had numerous attempts at Wade Barrett’s Intercontinental Championship. But each time, his efforts have been thwarted by the sheer numbers game presented by his former teammates. But suddenly, things seem to have taken a huge turn.
Wade Barrett’s arrogance has him alienated entirely from the group, as Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel have decided to end the association after being left high and dry by Barrett on multiple occasions. And now, the former bare-knuckle fighting champion must face the ‘Personification of Domination’ all by himself. With the odds evened up now, this might as well be the night when the coveted Intercontinental championship finally changes hands.
6. Alberto Del Rio vs The Big Show:
We all know that Alberto del Rio likes to make a statement, and has been successful in his endeavours on more than one occasion, but this time he seems to have bitten off more than he can chew. Following a brief verbal fight and a shove to Ricardo Rodriguez from the Big Show somehow gave Del Rio the motivation to hit Show’s knee with his Audi. On the shelf for almost a month, the World’s Largest Athlete has sworn to take vengeance over the Mexican Matador. Let us see if Del Rio can pull something else up his sleeve. But if he comes out on top, that will cement his name as one of the top dogs on the Raw roster.
7. CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio:
One of last year’s hottest-contested rivalries will be rekindled at Capitol Punishment, as Rey Mysterio will lock horns with CM Punk once more. Last year, the two had a series of intense matches, where Mysterio came out on top. But this time, the odds are too much even for WWE’s biggest underdog to overcome. The Second-City Saviour now commands a pack of wolves consisting of the powerhouse Mason Ryan and the WWE tag team champions, Mike McGillicutty and David Otunga. Can Rey somehow find a way to overcome his nemesis?
Find out that and a lot more on Capitol Punishment.
