WWE is bringing back the now-defunct Bragging Rights pay-per-view in 2012. According to reports, WWE will do away with Capitol Punishment PPV and replace it with Bragging Rights. Reports also suggest that it will be aired on the new WWE Network which is scheduled to be launched on April 1, 2012.
Bragging Rights is one of the many themed pay-per-views of the WWE, which boasts of a 7 on 7 elimination tag-team match between teams of RAW and Smackdown brands to determine who gets known as the best brand in WWE. It was held twice in 2009 and 2010 and the Smackdown team was victorious both times. Besides this inter-promotional match, it also consists of singles match based on pre-existing feuds. Bragging Rights did not take place in 2011. Instead, a new PPV named ‘Capitol Punishment’ was held.
‘Capitol Punishment’ turned out to be a disappointment as it did not have anything to with the matches except that the event was held in the capital of the United States, Washington DC. Moreover, it drew a disappointing number of buys and hence WWE must have reverted back to Bragging Rights.
WWE Bragging Rights 2012 is scheduled to be held on June 17, 2012.
