From the finest promotion in professional wrestling WWE , comes a brand new PPV extravaganza called “WWE Over the Limit” , as each superstar will be pushed to the limits of his endurance and resilience. And finally, only the toughest shall prevail. Championships will be defended and old grudges will be ended on this night, as WWE’s finest come together to put up a breath-taking performance. Here is the match card for Over the Limit:
1. John Cena vs The Miz (“I Quit” match for the WWE Championship):
The entire WWE Universe was elated when finally, after almost a year, we finally got to hear the familiar phrase, “The Champ is here!!” But the former champion won’t let go of his beloved treasure that easily. In his bid to prolong the ‘Era of Awesomeness’, The Miz will go to any lengths. But this time, the odds are not so much in his favour as they are of the Champ. As announced on Raw, the two will face off in a match built as the ultimate test of resilience. It is a match where there is nothing to stop you from beating the living hell out of your opponent, and the only way to win is to make your opponent say the two most humiliating words ever, “I Quit!”. As all of us know, Cena’s heart and resilience is known all over the world, and he has a wealth of experience in this kind of matchup (In which he is undefeated, for that matter), and this makes him almost impossible to beat. But the stipulation, owing to its utter absence of rules, does give Miz a chance to be at his baddest. And with A-Ri by his side, the challenger can spring up a surprise any time. This is one you would not want to miss, for sure.
2. Randy Orton vs Christian (World Heavyweight Championship match):
Well, talk about dreams turning into nightmares in a flash. After 17 years of hard work and countless missed opportunities, Captain Charisma finally reached the top of the mountain as he defeated Alberto Del Rio in a physical ladder match at Extreme Rules. But the ‘Cinderella story’ came to an abrupt end 5 days later when the WWE Universe decided to put SmackDown’s newest draft pick, Randy Orton in an impromptu title match, and being the kind of competitor that he is, The Viper made full use of this opportunity and captured the title, shattering Christian’s dreams. But the champion is entitled to a rematch, and he is going to use his opportunity at Over the Limit. These two have never faced each other before, and it will be confrontation of two entirely different wrestling styles, and contrasting attitudes. And at the end, only one man will walk away as the World Heavyweight Champion. Will Captain Charisma win back the gold? Or will the WWE’s Apex Predator make just another ‘statistic’ out of his opponent? We will find out at Over the Limit.
3. Michael Cole vs Jerry Lawler (‘Kiss my foot’ match):
The battle of the broadcast journalists has been raging since the beginning of the year, and right from day one, it has all been about humiliation for Michael Cole. The eccentric (to say the least) announcer has gone great lengths to insult Hall of Famer and his partner at ringside, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. And what makes it even worse is that he actually has a couple of wins (although very controversial ones) to back up his trash talk! But things went overboard when Cole and his personal trainer, Jack Swagger made the King’s close firend, and himself a Hall of Famer, Jim Ross kiss his feet in a phony ‘knighthood ceremony’. This made Lawler so desperate to get his hands on Cole that he agreed to perhaps the most humiliating stipulation ever. The loser must kiss the winner’s feet. Plus, if the King loses, he would have to hand over his priceless Hall of Fame ring to the despicable Cole. The King has lost a match of this type in the past, but the stakes are much higher this time. Will he finally get redemption? We will find out at Over the Limit.
4. R-Truth vs Rey Mysterio:
R-Truth is indeed a changed man. First he put his closest friend, John Morrison on the shelf, and then he attacked Rey Mysterio for no apparent reason. He also has this new-found hatred against the WWE Universe. All this has led to this huge match between Truth and Mysterio at Overt he limit. Mysterio is not the one to back down from a fight, and if it is hostility that R-Truth is looking for, he is going to find plenty from the master of the 619. This match will surely be a treat to watch.
5. Kane and Big Show vs CM Punk and Mason Ryan (WWE Tag Team Championships):
There has never been a pair of tag champions more physically intimidating than the current one. Or so everyone thought, until The Nexus’s newest find, the powerhouse Mason Ryan knocked the two behemoths out completely in a matter of minutes. Now, the leader of the wolfpack, CM Punk has decided to use this talent to establish his domination over the entire tag team division. And he is going to start by winning the coveted tag team championships. But nobody in their right minds would count out the current champions. The two giants add up to more than 700 pounds, and they are more than enough to decimate any kind of opposition.
6. Sin Cara vs Chavo Guerrero:
It is the clash of the Mexicans as WWE’s newest acquisition, the high-flying Sin Cara soars into the ring to lock horns with the ever-dangerous veteran, Chavo Guerrero. Chave made a really audacious statement a on SmackDown proclaiming himself as Sin Cara’s ‘mentor’, But, when the high-flying object of his boasting realized his win over Daniel Bryan happened because of a Guerrero distraction, Sin Cara angrily confronted Chavo and things turned physical. This bout will give Chavo a chance to remind the fans of his mettle and prowess, whereas for Sin Cara, it is a chance to showcase his skills and make an impact for himself.
7. Wade Barrett vs Ezekiel Jackson (Intercontinental Championship match):
The Corre seems to be history, as no faction in the world is big enough to hold two egos of these magnitudes. Barrett and Jackson have never been able to see eye-to-eye after Jackson threw some serious attitude at fellow Corre members and was ‘excommunicated’ from the group in a very physical manner. Now the former bare-knuckle fighting champion Barrett will defend his intercontinental title against the self-proclaimed ‘Personification of Domination’, in a battle that may very much decide the future of the SmackDown locker room scenario.
8. Brie Bella vs Kelly Kelly (Divas Championship match):
Newly crowned Divas champion Brie Bella will flaunt any rule in the book to retain her butterfly-emblazoned title, and with twin sister Nikki backing her up, she seems to be very successful in achieving her purpose. On the other hand, this is Kelly Kelly’s first chance at the title, and she would surely give her 110% to win the cherished belt. But both of them must watch their backs at all times, as the braided behemoth, Kharma can choose to demolish another Diva whenever she sees fit.
