Just 6 days before the No Way Out PPV, a 3-hour Monday Night Raw Supershow from Hartford, Connecticut awaits us. John Laurinaitis, who saved his job by beating John Cena with the help of Big Show at Over The Limit, will be scrutinized by the Chairman of the board, Vince McMahon. Mr. McMahon makes his return after a brief hiatus and will evaluate Big Johnny and decide his fate. It seems like a desperate move by the WWE, to get Vince back on TV to freshen up things on Raw, thereby arresting the slide in the ratings.
Vince’s evaluation of Big Johnny will be the central theme of this week’s Raw. Big Johnny has been running the show like a circus in the name of ‘People Power’. He has been the ringmaster while his hunch-men Tensai, Otunga and Big Show have been working as per his instructions. Now, he is answerable to the Chairman, who may surprise us by joining forces with Big Johnny or might have two words for him – “You’re fired!”. What will be McMahon’s decision? The 3-hour Raw might turn out to be the last one for John Laurinaitis.
Meanwhile, John Cena and Big Show haven’t been in the same arena since Big Show knocked Cena out on the Raw following Over The Limit. After that Raw, Big Show went on a rampage and vented his anger on guys like Brodus Clay, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella, Zack Ryder and R-Truth. Last week, John Cena was involved in a filler match against Michael Cole. The discontinuity has hampered the flow in the storyline and WWE will be looking to get their act together in their last chance to develop this feud further, ahead of No Way Out.
The WWE Champion CM Punk is in a quandary ahead of No Way Out. He has two men vying for his title and to spice things up, AJ has been lurking around him. Now, she has got into the mind of the big red monster Kane. Is she going to cost the victory for Kane and Punk at No Way Out, so that Daniel Bryan gets his hands on the WWE title? It seems to be heading that way.
Someone what hasn’t got anything going his way is Dolph Ziggler. The Show-Off has lost all his matches despite putting up a good fight in the last few weeks. His losing streak storyline since going solo isn’t something we expected. But, all is not over for him. This storyline may end pretty soon, and rumors are that Ric Flair is going to return to the WWE as his manager.
Another issue that WWE has cropped up recently is the injuries of the no.1 contender for the WWE title Alberto Del Rio and one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth. This has put the World Championship match at No Way Out in jeopardy. It will be interesting to see how WWE deals with this situation on Raw.
Moving on to the divas division, there seems to be nothing happening for the divas right now and I’m not complaining. Does anyone remember who the current divas champion is? Is WWE trying out something here? Sure, some divas like AJ, Eve etc are making their presence felt every week on both shows, but not in matches. However, a 3 hour Raw means that there will be a few filler matches and hence, we might get a Divas match involving the Divas Champion, just to show that she does exist.
The dark matches announced for the local crowd are Cena vs. Big Show & Laurinaitis in a handicap match and C.M. Punk vs. Daniel Bryan in a WWE Title match.
