WWE Raw 16/1/2012 held at Anaheim, California turned out to be a roller-coaster ride. We had two title matches which didn’t even last 5 minutes each. We were left to discuss about so many things including Chris Jericho’s latest antics. Here are the top 10 talking points of this week’s Raw.
- The tag-team Champions Epico & Primo defended their titles against Air Boom in a match that didn’t even last 5 minutes. And we came to know why they had to strip the titles off Evan Bourne suddenly, at a house show. The poor chap can’t keep his hands off the weed. With a second suspension, Evan’s WWE career seems to have crashed down badly.
- Jack Swagger is our new United States Champion. I was in a dilemma whether to cheer or boo him. Perhaps, Swagger might be the only guy who was a former World Champion before winning the US championship for the first time. While he was ecstatic on winning the title, he was aghast when John Cena pummeled him during their match later on.
- Zack Ryder’s US Title reign might be over, but he seems to have gotten himself elevated up a notch. He might play a key role in the Kane Vs Cena match at the Rumble. Or maybe he could start his title pursuit yet again because he was good at doing that and the same thing cannot be said about his title reign.
- John Cena and Kane have finally been granted a match at Royal Rumble. Does this mean that Kane will not be making his 16th consecutive Royal rumble match appearance? Fact: Kane is to Royal Rumble what Undertaker is to Wrestlemania.
- I was awestruck on seeing Chris Jericho getting tagged in by CM Punk. Didn’t we all predict that those two guys will go against each other? Chris Jericho surprised us all once again by walking out. He is so good at generating interest into something. With just one Raw before the Rumble, I don’t expect Jericho to speak up on that show too. #MustWatchTV.
- R-Truth won a mini Raw Rumble beating Wade Barrett, Sheamus and The Miz. He had a hilarious segment with Wade Barrett, poking fun of Barrett nose by comparing him to Pinocchio. This match was a good way to combine Truth-Miz feud and Sheamus-Barrett feud. Moreover, The Miz and Sheamus have some history too in the recent past. I was glad that Michael Cole was able to emphasize on how it is about every man for himself rather than stuffing The Miz into our throats.
- Mick Foley’s intermittent appearance on WWE TV continued but this time he was actually involved in something good. It seems like Foley will be in the Rumble match despite what Laurinaitis thinks. We got a glimpse of Mr. Socko and hope so he has a fair last run in the WWE.
- David Otunga has been getting a huge amount of TV time over the last few weeks and at the same time he is being cast as the jobber on most occasions. I’m sure he won’t be happy about that and how many times do we have to see Vickie Guerroro within 2 hours? I mean common, she was there for more that 30 minutes in the ring. I agree that she is a heat magnet but she should be split from Dolph if they really consider him to be one for the future.
- Perez Hilton chipped in with the announcing duties for the Divas match. I wonder how much he got paid for jobbing to the Bella Twins. And I still can’t get why he was there for? #TimeWaste
- Finally, John Laurinaitis snapped and he did a good job while doing so. He has confessed that he was going to screw Punk’s chances of winning at Royal Rumble and also revealed that he was going to be the permanent General Manager on Raw. The after effects of this will certainly be felt next weeks. My guess is that we are going to have a new authority figure in the near future.
