With the 25th annual Royal Rumble event just 23 days away, we have been looking back at the 24 Royal Rumble matches held so far. We had a rewind of the first match in 1988 and the second match in 1989, over the past two days. Today, we revisit the third Royal Rumble match. The third Royal Rumble match took place on January 21, 1990 at The Orlando Arena in Orlando, Florida. Here are some important facts about this match:
- This match featured 30 participants, including all the championship holders.
- Ted Dibiase, who entered the match first, lasted a whopping time of 44 minutes and 51 seconds. This became the new record for longevity in a Royal Rumble match, eclipsing the previous best of 27:58, set by Mr. Perfect in 1989.
- The Ultimate Warrior earned the distinction of eliminating the most number of men in this match (6).
- Shawn Michaels lasted just 12 seconds in this match.
- Hulk Hogan, who was the WWF champion while entering the match at number 25, won this match eliminating Mr. Perfect.
