‘Sin City Smackdown’ was held in Las Vegas this week, with all the matches of the show being decided by the spin of a wheel. Here are the top 10 talking points of Sin City Smackdown:
- Daniel Bryan‘s heel turn seems to have taken the highway. The crowd booed him to the core though he hasn’t completely turned heel yet. A surprise maybe in-store for us at Royal Rumble, where a Steel Cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship involving Bryan, Big Show and Mark Henry has been confirmed to take place.
- Cody Rhodes‘ metamorphosis into a main event heel is almost complete. But he does not need Hornswoggle to build some more heat. He needs to face top guys to increase his credibility. Justin Gabriel might give him a fair challenge when it comes to the looks, but when it came down to a match, Cody reigned supreme. Justin’s new look is good but I wonder where it’ll take him. Future Intercontinental Champion? for sure!
- Teddy Long’s role as Smackdown manager might be ending soon. He seems to have lost his composure and his character has been portrayed as an incapable manager. Even Michael Cole is taking potshots at him, every single week. Moreover, they’ve been teasing about him and Aksana for weeks, which is getting a bit stale currently.
- Tag team Tornado match was interesting than I expected it to be. The Uso’s were defeated by the Tag-team champions Epico and Primo, who have been impressive in the last few weeks. I wouldn’t complain to watch more of these tornado matches.
- Vickie Guerrero, Brodus Clay and William Regal were involved in a funny Dance-Off contest which did not disappoint me. Brodus Clay’s charisma helps him to woo the audience into his favor. William Regal showed us that he has still got it.
- We got a Tables match between Barrett and Sheamus. The match was good and ended with Barrett winning it, courtesy of a Jinder Mahal distraction. Jinder has been jobbing to Sheamus for a while now and continued to do so this week too. Poor chap!
- A Blindfold wrestling match is something which I hadn’t seen earlier. I wasn’t even able to comprehend the fact that something like this existed.
- Drew McIntyre’s loosing streak was extended by Santino by winning the blindfold match. The match sucked to the core in terms of the wrestling quotient. All we got to see was Santino’s Cobra spitting venom on Drew’s career. By the way, is he fired or not?
- Another gimmick match was held between Ted Dibiase and Hunico. A short flag match ended with Ted Dibiase fetching the USA flag on top of a pole. The feud between these guys is being built in a successful manner. But it still puzzles why Camacho isn’t being used in a match yet. He’s fading into obscurity after a surprise debut.
- The ending to the main event Lumber Jack World Heavyweight Match was disappointing. But it was booked in a manner which enables Daniel Bryan to be portrayed as a cowardly heel. Big Show’s injury might have forced him to miss out but they should’ve atleast shown a clip of him addressing the AJ saga. Right throughout this Lumberjack match, Bryan kept taunting the lumberjacks and in the end, they all attacked him and Henry to bring yet another inconsequential end to a championship match involving Daniel Bryan.
