Yet another episode of WWE Superstars is in the books. This week marked the return of ‘the chosen one’ Drew McIntyre back into WWE action after a long hiatus. Plenty of wrestling action as usual, with 4 hardcore singles matches which involved several WWE Bigwigs like Zack Ryder, Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre. Continue reading to know more on what happened in those matches.
Match 1: Wade Barrett Vs Trent Barreta
Singles Match
Wade Barrett’s first match after defeating Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam was against Trent Barreta in WWE Superstars. The unusually similar surnames seems to confuse me. Anyways, you can’t expect Wade Barrett to lose this one because of the fact that he is on a winning streak. Trent Barreta is the cannon fodder to those guys who are enjoying a big push. This match was no different as Wade Barrett dominated throughout the match to get the pinfall victory. Barreta did put up a valiant fight but was overpowered by the size and strength of the British gentleman, Wade Barrett.
Winner: Wade Barrett
Match Rating: 4/5
Match 2: Brodus Clay Vs Jose Vargas
Singles Match
This is Brodus Clay’s third consecutive match against an unexperienced local wrestler. This time the jobber was Jose Vargas. As expected, Brodus Clay dominated the match to squash Jose Vargas for the pinfall victory. Brodus Clay is getting a subtle push by getting a match every week on superstars. Whether he’ll utilise it or not, will be known in the very near future
Winner: Brodus Clay
Match Rating: 3/5
Match 3: Santino Marella Vs Primo
Singles Match
The funniest man in the WWE right now, Santino Marella was in action after a brief hiatus. He took on Primo who for strange reasons is still a part of WWE. I thought he should have been the one who should have been future endeavored rather than Chris Master and David Hart Smith. Anyways, Primo was in his short trunk rather than pants that he used to wear before. A good match during the course of which Santino Marella got his arm injured. However, he managed to hit the cobra using his weakened arm to get the pinfall victory on Primo.
Winner: Santino Marella
Match Rating: 3/5
Match 4: Zack Ryder Vs Drew McIntyre
Singles Match
‘The Chosen One’ Drew McIntyre came out to his entrance theme ‘ Broken Dreams by Shaman’s Harvest’. This is one of my favorite entrance themes which suit Drew McIntyre’s current predicament. His dreams were high when he first entered the scene but was underutilised which meant that he couldn’t rise to the top as early as he expected it to be. ‘The unofficial WWE Internet Champion’ Zack Ryder was also involved in this match. This is the LongIslandIcedZ’s first match in two weeks on WWE television. Since both men were back after a short spell of rest, the initial parts of the match were slow paced. But thereafter, both men showcased a lot of their moves with poise. Plenty of nearfalls for both men. But, in the end, it was Zack Ryder who was victorious after hitting the rough ryder on Drew. A fantastic match to cap off a fabulous WWE Superstars show. It was indeed a PPV caliber match.
Winner: Zack Ryder
Match Rating: 4/5
The BottomLine:
This week’s WWE Superstars was unique because it had 4 singles matches. This meant that the quality of action would be good. And indeed the quality was good because of the effort put in by the 8 men involved in those matches to get their moves right. This week’s WWE Superstars is a must watch for all the wrestling fans out there.
